RACE 1 (R244) CLASS 5 (B) – 1200M 

Trainer S Shanmugam was fined RM1,000/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for nominating Jockey S Saddam to ride TOP TURF without obtaining prior permission from the Stewards as required. 

As there was no suitable rider available, the Stewards permitted App S Sia to replace Jockey S Saddam as the rider of TOP TURF. 

FUNKADELIC (KP Lim) jumped awkwardly outwards and bumped LEEDSTHEWAY (App    R Nuqman) at the start.

Passing the 1000M-mark, YOU ARE SPECIAL (M Ewe) had to steady when D’GREAT EMPRESS (App Z Syafifie) rolled inwards.  App Z Syafifie, in the presence of his Employing Trainer, K Ananthen, was shown the video of the incident and was warned to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.

DARK WIZARD (S Ruzaini) raced keenly in the early and middle stages and was difficult to settle.

TOP TURF raced wide in the early and middle stages and entered the home straight wide.

LEEDSTHEWAY was inconvenienced when racing tight on the inside of BRIGHT SUN (HK Cheng) at approximately the 150M-mark.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that FUNKADELIC returned lame off fore and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

A post-race veterinary examination of BRIGHT SUN revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 2 (R245) CLASS 5 (B) – 1200M 

ALESSIA BEAUTY (Z Khairil) brushed the outside gate on jumping and bumped CHIPS (App Z Syafifie).

ALESSIA BEAUTY, CHIPS and PENANG GENERAL (S Saddam) were all slow into stride.

ALESSIA BEAUTY and LEESTOWN EXPRESS (App R Nuqman) raced wide rounding the turn and into the straight.

At about the 800M-mark, D’GREAT CHANCE (App N Shahronnizam) took the turn awkwardly.

Jockeys S Ruzaini, S Saddam and HS Gill, the respective rider of TWILL GUY,  PENANG GENERAL and THE GRAY MAN, reported that their mounts were not striding out freely.  Post-race veterinary examinations of PENANG GENERAL and THE GRAY MAN revealed no obvious abnormality.  TWILL GUY returned lame off fore and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

A post-race veterinary examination of LEESTOWN EXPRESS revealed no obvious abnormality.

Trainer K Coetzee, when questioned regarding the improved performance of YOU ARE GENIUS (M Ewe) today, stated that gelding managed to get a good jump and raced with the pace.  He also attributed the improvement to the weak field and the yielding track today.  His explanation was noted and his attention was drawn to the rules regarding “in-and-out” running (MRA Rule 117(3)).

BRING IT WIN (S Salee) was slow into stride.

CASTLE CHOICE (App R Nuqman) entered the home straight wide and finished the race wide. 

Jockey S Ruzaini, the rider of BARBARIAN, reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of BARBARIAN revealed no obvious abnormality. 

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that PITT BULL (KC Tham) returned with a small cut on its lower lip.

DISTINCTIVE DARCI, a course scratching as it had sustained bruised near fore fetlock, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

NOVA FALCON and VIETNAM CAPTAIN which were down 18kgs and 23kgs in body weight respectively since their last run, were checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and were both passed fit to start.

XENA (S Ruzaini) and NOVA FALCON (App S Sia) were both slow into stride.

Jockey AK Lim encountered a flight delay en route to the Club and as such, the Stewards permitted Jockey HS Gill to replace him on BACK TO THE FUTURE. 

EKRAAR PHOENIX (S Ruzaini) fly-jumped and was slow to begin.

 HARLEY FLAME (S Salee) was eased up from about the 500M-mark and collapsed at the 450M-mark.  Jockey S Salee was exempted from weighing-in. 

A post-race veterinary examination revealed that HARLEY FLAME bled, collapsed and died on the track.

RACE 6  (R249)  CLASS 4 (A)  – 1300M 

LEGACY ROAR (KC Tham) reared as the start was effected and was slow to begin.

At approximately the 1200M-mark, GOLDEN SARDINE (V Espindola) and BLAZE PEGASUS (AK Lim) raced tight.

AIR BOSS (HS Gill) raced wide in the early and middle stages.

SHENG PROISIR (App R Ruwaidy) raced wide entering the home straight. 

App R Nuqman, the rider of DIRECTOR, reported that his mount was not striding out freely.  A post-race veterinary examination of DIRECTOR  revealed no obvious abnormality. 

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that LEGACY ROAR bled and will be barred from racing for a period of three (3) months under MRA Rule 92(3)(a)&(b) and thereafter will be required to pass a bleeder’s test before being declared to race again.

A post-race veterinary examination of AIR BOSS revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 7 (R250) CLASS 5 (A) – 1600M 

THE JEWELLER and CAPE LINCOLN, both course scratchings as they had sustained sole bruise near fore and cellulitis off hind cannon respectively, will each be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

Acting on the Club Veterinary Surgeon’s report that DAWNBREAKER (S Ruzaini) was showing early signs of colic, the Stewards ordered its withdrawal at 4.03 pm.  DAWNBREAKER will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.   

MYSTICAL STAR (SS Vanan) was slow into stride.

At approximately the 250M-mark, MGR ROCKET (Z Khairil) rolled in away from the whip, inconveniencing ALWRICH (HK Cheng) and JET BLACK (App R Ruwaidy).  Jockey Z Khairil was shown the video of the incident and was warned to exercise more care when shifting ground.   In addition, the Stewards advised that they were not entirely happy with his vigour in the home straight and he was warned to ride all his mounts in such a manner so as to leave no room for query.

A post-race veterinary examination of MGR ROCKET revealed no obvious abnormality.

PNTC TRACKWORK – TUESDAY,  28TH FEBRUARY 2023

 

Trainer K Ananthen was fined RM200/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for allowing his track riders on GURNEY DRIVE and HARLEY FLAME to do slow work on Track II (Grass) which was designated for fast work only at about 9.32 am on Tuesday, 28th February 2023.
