RACE 1 (R1353) CLASS 5 (B) – 1600M

SATELLITE TURBO (App CK Khaw) was slow into stride.

GOLDEN CRAFTSMAN (SU Lim) had to check racing to the 1500M to avoid the heels of SUPER RED (K Eirwan) and shifted inwards, resulting in NAPOLEON (Z Khairil) having to steady. 

Jockey K Eirwan, the rider of SUPER RED, reported that his mount was not striding out freely.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed that SUPER RED bled and since it is SUPER RED’s second bleeding attack, the gelding will be barred from racing for a period of six (6) months under MRA Rule 92(5)(a), (b) & (c) and thereafter will be required to pass a bleeder’s test before being declared to race again.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that SATELLITE TURBO returned exhibiting signs of respiratory distress and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

Post-race veterinary examinations of BAYMAX (S Ruzaini) and NAPOLEON revealed no obvious abnormality. BAYMAX which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.   

BERLINETTA (J Low) returned having cast its off fore plate.

D’GREAT OPULENT (J De Souza) was slow to begin.

TOP TURF (S Muniandy) raced wide from the 700M to the 500M.

Post-race veterinary examinations of DESTINY KNIGHT (HK Cheng), MYSTICAL STAR (App S Saddam) and BEST DREAM (K Eirwan) revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 3 (R1355) CLASS 5 (B) – 1200M

EASTWOOD, a course scratching as it was bruised off fore heels, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

MR DREYFUSS (App S Rosmizan) cast its near fore plate en route to the start and had to be re-shod, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and was passed fit to race.

MERCHANT MARINE (SU Lim) stood and lost considerable ground at the start.  The gelding will be required to pass one (1) starting stall test before being declared to race again.

BASTION (App S Saddam) was crowded for room shortly after the start and lost its position when GHOST CITY (S Anandan) was taken inwards by D’GREAT ELEGANCE (J De Souza).

JUSTICE GRACE (App P Haris) hung out away from the whip in the straight and finished wide on the track.

Jockey SU Lim, the rider of MERCHANT MARINE, reported that his mount was not striding out freely.  A post-race veterinary examination of MERCHANT MARINE revealed no obvious abnormality

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that CALM AND TRANQUIL (App L De Souza) and MR DREYFUSS returned having cast their near off fore plate and near fore plate respectively.

Post-race veterinary examinations of DARK EXPRESS (HK Cheng), D’GREAT ELEGANCE and LEE’S SURPRISE (SS Vanan) revealed no obvious abnormality.

Emergency acceptor, D’GREAT LORD was withdrawn due to a capacity field.

EQUALLY OPTIMISTIC, a course scratching as it had corneal ulcer right eye, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

GERMANIC which was down 21kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

POWERFUL FIGHTER (App WW Cheah) was slow into stride and then raced wide from the 800M to the 500M.

GERMANIC (HS Gill) was tested with the whip passing the 300M, commenced to weaken rapidly and was not ridden out to the end of the race.  A post-race veterinary examination of GERMANIC revealed that the gelding returned having cast its off fore plate.  GERMANIC which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

Post-race veterinary examinations of ARTEMISTER (App P Mogun) and HERO KING           (S Ruzaini) revealed no obvious abnormality.  BM POWER (Z Khairil) returned having cast its off hind plate.

HELLO SAYANG, a course scratching as it had cellulitis near fore leg, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

KUTTNER (S Anandan) was slow to begin.

Shortly after the start, ROBBEN (App S Rosmizan) stumbled and became unbalanced for several strides.  App S Rosmizan was shown the video of the incident in the presence of his Trainer, S Hamilton and was advised that in future, he should report incidents that affect his running.

Jockey R Rueven, the rider of MAJOR GREEN, reported that his mount was making respiratory noises.  A post-race veterinary examination of MAJOR GREEN revealed no obvious abnormality.

Post-race veterinary examinations of KUTTNER, SATELLITE GOLDEN (App CK Khaw) and  HALLELUJAH (Y Aify) revealed no obvious abnormality.

Emergency acceptors, MACARTHUR and NOVA MISSILE were both withdrawn due to a capacity field.

BLACK AND WHITE, a course scratching as it had sustained a bruised near fore fetlock, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

      

NOVA SWISS which was down 16kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

KERAUNO (App S Rosmizan) was fractious in the barrier, turned its head to the side when the gates opened and lost ground.

TIME ODYSSEY (App P Haris) jumped away awkwardly.

Post-race veterinary examinations of NOVA SWISS (S Ruzaini) and ARIF (R Rueven) revealed no obvious abnormality.   NOVA SWISS and FAALTLESS (J De Souza) both returned having cast their near fore plate.

RACE 7 (R1359) CLASS 4 (B) – 1300M

GENERAL MARSHALL and CATAPULT which were both down 16kgs, and POMP which was down 18kgs in body weight since their last runs, were all checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and were passed fit to start.

The Stewards permitted Jockey Y Aify to replace Jockey S Ruzaini on SHANGHAI NIGHTS  as the latter was stood down by the Club Medical Officer.

Light rain fell prior to and during the running of this race.

SHANGHAI NIGHTS which was difficult to be ridden to the start, will be required to pass one (1) starting stall test (to be ridden unaided to the start) before being declared to race again. 

GENERAL MARSHALL (App S Saddam) jumped away awkwardly outwards.

TWENTYSIXTWELVE (C Goon) jumped away awkwardly and shifted out, forcing HAPPY BABY (S Anandan), TURQUOISE KING (App CK Khaw) and BRAVE MALALA (App S Rosmizan) wider, and as a result, TURQUOISE KING lost ground. 

CATAPULT (App L De Souza) was slow into stride.

The Stewards questioned Jockey Y Aify into the poor performance of SHANGHAI NIGHTS.  Jockey Y Aify explained that SHANGHAI NIGHTS was still a green horse and he did not think it was suited by today’s track conditions.  His explanation was noted.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed that SHANGHAI NIGHTS returned lame off fore and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

Post-race veterinary examinations of CASTLE CHOICE (App P Haris) and BRAVE MALALA revealed no obvious abnormality. 

TWENTYSIXTWELVE returned having cast its near fore plate. The gelding which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

FIRST DANCE, a course scratching as it was dehydrated, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

NUMERO UNO which was down 19kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

The Stewards permitted Jockey Y Aify to replace Jockey S Ruzaini on METALLOCENE.

ORIENTAL SPIRIT (Z Khairil) was withdrawn by order of the Stewards at 5.10pm acting on veterinary advice that the gelding was lame near fore.  ORIENTAL SPIRIT will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

ACE’S WILD (App CK Khaw) jumped away awkwardly.

METALLOCENE was slow to begin.

ELITE GOLD (HS Gill) had to be steadied racing to the 1100M and as a consequence, shifted out across the heels of METALLOCENE and  as a result, checked, got its head up and lost ground.

Racing to the 800M, STAR STRIKE (SU Lim) rolled in, causing DISCRETELY RED (App S Rosmizan) to be steadied to avoid its heels.

STAR STRIKE was taken outwards at the 400M by DISCRETELY RED and had to be steadied.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that STAR STRIKE returned having cast its near fore plate and was cut into near hind.

Post-race veterinary examinations of DISCRETELY RED, WINGED FOOT (App L De Souza) and ELITE GOLD (HS Gill) revealed no obvious abnormality.

MULTIBLUE TOSCA, D’GREAT SPIRIT, LUCKY SIXTYSIX and KHUDAWAND, all course scratchings as they were bruised near fore fetlock, bruised off fore sole, knocked near fore tendon and had a sore back respectively, will each be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

JACKS SECRET and NOVA HARBOUR, which were both down 15kgs in body weight since their last run, were checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and were passed fit to start.

The Stewards permitted Jockey J Low to replace Jockey S Ruzaini on TARZAN BOY.

JACKS SECRET (App P Haris) jumped away awkwardly.

ELITE CONQUEROR (HS Gill) was slow into stride.

COLCHESTER (SU Lim) showed no early pace despite being urged.

Post-race veterinary examinations of COLCHESTER and JACKS SECRET revealed no obvious abnormality.

 Trainer MW Teh was fined RM250/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for failing to give adequate instructions to his Track Rider during the above trackwork.

POST-RACE URINE:

PERAK TURF CLUB OCTOBER MEETING 2019

The report dated 24th October 2019 (V19/131) from the Chief Analyst of USains Biomics Laboratory stated that 53 bottles of coded urine samples and 57 sets of coded blood samples from the above mentioned race meeting were received on 13th October 2019 for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations.  No prohibited substances were detected.

The report dated 24th October 2019 (V19/132) from the Chief Analyst of USains Biomics Laboratory stated that 4 bottles of coded urine samples from the above mentioned race meeting were received on 13th October 2019 for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations.  No prohibited substances were detected.


APPEAL BY JOCKEY M HANIF AGAINST THE SIX MONTHS SUSPENSION & RM20,000/- FINE IMPOSED BY THE PANEL OF STEWARDS UNDER MRA RULE 44(10) IN CONNECTION WITH HIS RIDING AND HANDLING OF “MARIO ATTILA” IN RACE 5 (R662), CLASS 5(B) – 1400M(sc) – ATLETICO DE MADRID HANDICAP, PERAK MAY/JUNE MEETING – 1st  DAY, SATURDAY, 25th MAY 2019

The Appellate Panel of Stewards heard the above appeal today, Monday, 21st October 2019.   

After hearing submissions from Jockey M Hanif and the Acting Chief Stipendiary Steward, Mr. Philip Anderson and reviewing the video of the race, the Appellate Panel dismissed the appeal and Jockey M Hanif’s deposit is forfeited.

However, the Appellate Panel reduced the six months suspension to four months suspension with effect from today, 21st October 2019 and to expire on 20th February 2020, both dates inclusive and the RM20,000/= fine imposed was confirmed.


PRTC BARRIER TRIAL – TUESDAY, 22ND OCTOBER 2019

SWISS ROLL (H44) which bled during its official barrier trial on Tuesday (22/10/2019) at the Perak Turf Club, will now be barred from racing for a period of three (3) months under MRA Rule 92(3) (a) &(b)


INQUIRY INTO THE POST-RACE URINE SAMPLE CODED “28605” TAKEN FROM RACEHORSE “D’GREAT TALENT” IN RACE 2 (R1161) CLASS 5(A) – 1400M, 2ND DAY, SUNDAY, 15TH SEPTEMBER 2019, PENANG SEPTEMBER MEETING 2019 WHICH RETURNED POSITIVE TO “BOLDERNONE SULPHATE”, A PROHIBITED SUBSTANCE UNDER THE MRA RULES AND REGULATIONS

The Stipendiary Stewards today (25th October 2019) concluded an Inquiry into the above matter at the Penang Turf Club.

Evidence was taken from Trainer S Hamilton, the trainer of D’GREAT TALENT, Associate Prof. Dr Tan Soo Choon, Chief Analyst, Usains Biomics Laboratory and Dr Khor Li Li, Senior Veterinary Surgeon, PNTC.

Trainer S Hamilton pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 134(6)(a) as read with MRA Rule 134(13) and  punishable under MRA Rule 134(7) in that she, as the Trainer and person responsible for presenting and accepting to run D’GREAT TALENT, which finished tenth (10th) placing in the above race and its post-race urine sample coded “28605” subsequently upon analysis, returned positive to Boldenone Sulphate, a prohibited substance under the MRA Rules and Regulations.

When deciding on penalties, the Stewards took into account Trainer S Hamilton’s mitigating factors, the nature of the prohibited substance and her previous record.  Trainer S Hamilton was fined a sum of RM15,000/- (Ringgit Malaysia Fifteen Thousand) and was informed of her Right of Appeal (3.00 pm).

In terms of MRA Regulation 45.6, D’GREAT TALENT will be barred from racing for a period of six (6) months with effect from 26th September 2019 and to expire on 25th March 2020, both dates inclusive and thereafter, a clear urine sample from D’GREAT TALENT must be submitted for analysis before the gelding is declared to race again, as required under MRA Rule 134(12).
