RACE 1 (R587) CLASS 5(B) – 1400M
SIX EMPIRE which was down 15kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.
FRANCES (KC Wong) had to steady to avoid the heels of COLONEL LINCOLN (S Anandan) passing the 300M.
SIX EMPIRE (M Ganeesh) and GOLD MOSA (App L De Souza) brushed racing to the 100M.
Post-race veterinary examinations of BM POWER (App YY Oon) and GOLD MOSA revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 2 (R588) CLASS 5(A) – 1400M
OVERSEER (Z Khairil) was slow to begin.
The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that FOLLOW THE WIND (App YY Oon) returned lame off fore and as such will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.
Post-race veterinary examinations of ORION (KC Wong) and VENUS DE MILO (S Salee) revealed no obvious abnormality.
The Stewards questioned Jockey Z Khairil with regard to his ride on OVERSEER. Jockey Z Khairil stated that his instructions from a wide barrier were to get a good jump and sit mid field which he was able to carry out. He further stated that from the 800M until entering the straight, he raced in tight galloping room and did not obtain clear running until passing the 300M. Jockey Z Khairil said that OVERSEER responded to his whip riding and finished the race well. The Stewards noted his explanation.

RACE 3 (R589) CLASS 5(A) – 1400M
BABEL and SILENT BOSS, both course scratching as they had sustained skin allergy and bruised right hock respectively, will each be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
READY TO SMILE and BALL AND CHAIN which were down 17kgs and 15kgs respectively in body weight and AMISTAD which was up 19kgs in body weight since their last run, were checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and were passed fit to start.
CITY OF DREAM (App CK Khaw) was held up for clear running from the 600M until entering the straight from the heels of BALL AND CHAIN (App S Saddam).
READY TO SMILE (S Ruzaini) had to check racing to the 400M to avoid the heels of MODRIC (App P Haris) which rolled inwards.
From the 300M, CITY OF DREAM had to shift outwards to obtain clear running.
Post-race veterinary examinations of CITY OF DREAM and RICH AND SMART (HS Gill) revealed no obvious abnormality.

Emergency acceptor, GOD HELPS ME was withdrawn due to a capacity field.
LISBOA STAR and DIAMOND SET, both course scratching as they had sustained a bruised back and sore back respectively, will each be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
SACRED SURFER (Z Khairil) and CALLIXTUS (Z Zuriman) were checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon behind the barriers and both were passed fit to race.
TURF PRINCESS (J Low) was slow into stride.
TERMS OF REFERENCE (S Salee) laid in racing to the 200M, obliging its rider to stop riding and straighten the gelding.
Jockey K Eirwan, the rider of SO ON reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed no obvious abnormality. SO ON which raced poorly will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.
A post-race veterinary examination of CALLIXTUS revealed that the mare returned cut into its off hind medial cannon.
The Stewards questioned Jockey Y Aify, the rider of FLYING BABY into his ride on that gelding. Jockey Y Aify stated that his instructions from a wide barrier was to be in a mid field position. After a clear jump, he settled mid field and on straightening, commenced to ride forward and from the 400M, he commenced to ride with the whip. He further stated that FLYING BABY was only one-paced and failed to respond to the whip. His explanation was noted.

Emergency acceptor, READY TO ROLL was withdrawn due to a capacity field.
GUNFORHIRE and HALLELUJAH, both course scratching as they had colic and had sustained superficial wound off hind, will each be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
SEBASTIAN BACH, STREETS OF FIRE, GRASSWOOD STAR, KULIM WINGS and PEARL KING which were up 39kgs, 19kgs, 33kgs, 18kgs and 22kgs in body weight respectively since their last run, were checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and were passed fit to start.
Trainer HY Cheng was fined RM100/- under MRA Rule 65(5)(c) for failing to produce the declared colours for PACIFIC MYSTICAL (HK Cheng).
The Stewards permitted Jockey SS Vanan to replace Jockey C Goon as the rider of GENERAL NIX when the latter was stood down by the Club Medical Officer.
SEBASTIAN BACH (App M Akmazani) dipped on jumping away.
BIG BUS (HS Gill) jumped away awkwardly.
Post-race veterinary examinations of BIG BUS and FUNKADELIC (S Salee) revealed no obvious abnormality.

D’GREAT BULLET and ELITE GENERAL, both course scratching as they had sustained a nail prick off hind foot and was sore near fore fetlock respectively, will each be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
GOLD SKY BILLION, a course scratching as it had skin allergy, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
XENA and GENERAL TYCOON which were up 30kgs and 22kgs in body weight respectively since their last run, were checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and were passed fit to start.
App P Haris, the rider of XENA reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of the mare revealed no obvious abnormality.
App CC Foo (TAFFETAS), in the presence of his employing trainer, R Lines was shown the vision of the finish of the race and was given the benefit of the doubt as to his celebratory gesture prior to the finish of the race.

SUNNY FIGHTER (App SN Shiva) jumped away awkwardly and was slow to begin.
Post-race veterinary examinations of CASTLE OCEAN (App P Haris) and SILVER SIXTYSIX (R Rueven) revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 8 (R594) CLASS 5(A) – 1100M
SPIN FIRE (M Ganeesh) which was difficult and unable to be boxed, was withdrawn by order of the Stewards at 5.31 pm. SPIN FIRE will be required to pass one (1) starting stall test before being declared to race again.
A post-race veterinary examination of CLASSIC KING (Z Khairil) revealed no obvious abnormality.
Prior to the ‘All Clear’ being given, an objection was lodged by App R Ruwaidy, the rider of BIG SUPER, the second place getter against SECKILL (AK Lim), being declared the winner, on the grounds of alleged interference over the final 200M. After considering the evidence and viewing the vision of the incident, the Racing Stewards were of the opinion that the alleged interference had not affected the result of the race. The objection was overruled and the results stand. The Racing Stewards imposed a fine of RM2,000/- on App R Ruwaidy in the presence of his employing trainer, C Robert, under MRA Rule 122(3) for lodging a frivolous objection.

RACE 9 (R595) CLASS 5(B) – 1100M
LOYALTY’S ANGEL, a course scratching as it was bruised near fore sole, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
The Stewards permitted Jockey R Rueven to replace Jockey HS Gill as the rider of STRONG MAN when the latter was stood down by the Club Medical Officer.
Jockey Z Khairil replaced Jockey C Goon as the rider of GOLD SEAL with the permission of the Stewards.
The race was rescheduled to start at 6.00 pm.
GOLD SEAL was slow to begin.
GOLD SEAL and READY TO STAR (KC Wong) brushed racing to the 350M.

PRE-RACE BLOOD TEST – 1ST DAY, SUNDAY, 23RD AUGUST 2020
PENANG TURF CLUB AUGUST MEETING 2020
The report dated 23rd August 2020 (PNTC #V20/08) from the Chief Analyst of Veterinary Forensic Laboratory stated that 106 coded blood samples were received from the above- mentioned race meeting for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations. All the samples were analyzed and passed the pre-race testing criteria.
