RACE 1 (R900) CLASS 5  (B) – 1100M

SUPER GOOD, a course scratching as it had sustained multiple lacerations on both hinds, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

TRIPLE COIN (CK Tan) was fractious in the barrier and reared up prior to the jump.

DARK EXPRESS (S Ruzaini) jumped away awkwardly and threw its head up.

Jockey J Low, the rider of CHERISH, was fined RM250/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for dropping his whip shortly after the start.

BLACK DIAMOND (App L De Souza) had to be steadied and shifted outwards to avoid the heels of DETERMINE TO WIN (WK Yan) approaching the finish.

Post-race veterinary examinations of DARK EXPRESS, ONE O NINE (SU Lim) and MR RIGHT (HS Gill) revealed no obvious abnormality.  DARK EXPRESS was impounded for further veterinary and analytical examination.

The Stewards questioned Jockey S Ruzaini, the rider of DARK EXPRESS, into that gelding’s poor performance today.  He stated that from barrier 9, his instructions were to be midfield and DARK EXPRESS had a fair jump and failed to respond to his riding in the early stages of the race and as a consequence, DARK EXPRESS got further back in the field.  Jockey S Ruzaini further stated that going into the straight, he drew his whip at the 350M but DARK EXPRESS failed to respond.   The Stewards also questioned Trainer T Asogan into the performance of DARK EXPRESS today.  He confirmed the instructions and stated that DARK EXPRESS had worked normally during the week and he felt that the gelding was better suited in softer going.  The Stewards noted their explanations.
