RACE 1 (R784) CLASS 5 (A) – 1400M 

EKRAAR PHOENIX (KP Lim) jumped awkwardly outwards, brushing ULURU  (App SN Shiva).

Passing the 200M-mark, EKRAAR PHOENIX switched out to obtain a clear run and in so doing, carried SING DARCI (K Eirwan) wide.

QUEEN FORCE (R Rueven) was obliged to race wide on the turn.

Jockey AM Aizat, the rider of COUNTRY LAW and Jockey R Rueven, the rider of QUEEN FORCE, both reported that their mounts were not striding out freely.  Post-race veterinary examinations of COUNTRY LAW and QUEEN FORCE revealed no obvious abnormality. QUEEN FORCE which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

Jockey K Eirwan, the rider of SING DARCI , was shown the video of the start and he was warned by the Stewards that in future, he would be expected to make a greater attempt to jump his horse out on terms with the field.

RACE 2 (R785)  CLASS 4 (A) –1300M 

PLACE YOUR BET, a course scratching as it was bruised near fore fetlock, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again. 

HEARTS OF GOLD which was down 16kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

SACRED GALAXY (App Z Syafifie) was slow into stride and thereafter was tightened when racing on the outside of WINNER’S EUPHORIA (TK Barnabas).

At approximately the 900M-mark, GEORGETOWN (V Espindola) steadied when racing tight on the inside of MULTIBLUE SHARK (AM Aizat).

Jockey KP Lim, the rider of TRUDY, reported that his mount was making abnormal respiratory noise.  A post-race veterinary examination of TRUDY revealed that the mare returned with  epiglottis entrapment and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet)  before being declared to race again.

A post-race veterinary examination of IPOH KAIGEH (R Rueven) revealed no obvious abnormality.

PENANG GENERAL (App SN Shiva) was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon behind the barriers and was passed fit to race. 

INVICTUS WARRIOR (HS Gill) and PENANG GENERAL were both slow into stride.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that INVICTUS WARRIOR bled and will be barred from racing for a period of three (3) months under MRA Rule 92(3)(a)&(b) and thereafter will be required to pass a bleeder’s test before being declared to race again.

Trainer S Hamilton was fined RM250/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for wrongly declaring Jockey KP Lim on BATTLESTAR instead of Jockey AM Aizat.

Trainer T Asosgan was fined RM100/- under MRA Rule 65(5)(c) for failing to produce the declared colours for TK STAR (K Eirwan).

Before the start of the race, Trainer B Ng informed the Stewards that BRIGHT SUN (HK Cheng) resents the use of the whip and as such, he instructed Jockey HK Cheng to ride hands and heels.

CAORUNN (L De Souza), PARISBAS (R Narendran) and PENANG MAN (V Espindola) were all slow into stride.

The saddle on D’GREAT CHANCE (R Rueven) slipped backwards in the running.

TK STAR raced poorly and wide throughout.  A veterinary examination was requested which revealed no obvious abnormality.

Jockey R Rueven, the rider of D’GREAT CHANCE, reported that his mount was not striding out freely.  A post-race veterinary examination of D’GREAT CHANCE revealed that the gelding returned exhibiting signs of respiratory distress and as such will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

BILLY MOJO which was down 19kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

Trainer S Hamilton was fined RM500/- under PNTC Official Programme Clause 3.4 for scratching SIMLONG BEACH without an Official Veterinary Certificate.  

THUNDERGOD (KP Lim) jumped awkwardly, getting its head up.

THUNDERGOD raced poorly and a veterinary examination was requested which revealed no obvious abnormality.

Emergency acceptor, MERRY BELL was withdrawn due to a capacity field. 

SECOND CHANCE, a course scratching as it was bruised off hind fetlock, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again. 

OVERSEER (L De Souza) was pulling hard and difficult to settle in the early and middle stages.

At approximately the 1300M-mark, THE JEWELLER (App SN Shiva) steadied momentarily when PURLE RAIN LADY (S Saddam) rolled inwards despite Jockey Saddam’s attempt to  keep straight.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that EL PRIMERO (K Eirwan) bled and will be barred from racing for a period of three (3) months under MRA Rule 92(3)(a)&(b) and thereafter will be required to pass a bleeder’s test before being declared to race again.

A post-race veterinary examination of RAISE ME UP (KP Lim) revealed no obvious abnormality.

ALWRICH (HK Cheng) and NAPOLEON (App N Shahronnizam) which raced poorly, will each be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

POST-RACE ANALYSIS (EQUINE):

9TH JULY 2023 – PERAK JULY MEETING 2023 

The report dated 20th July 2023 (V23/105) from the Chief Analyst of Usains Biomics Laboratory stated that 17 coded urine and 19 sets of coded blood samples from the above- mentioned race meeting were received on 9th July 2023, for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations.  No prohibited substances were detected.

JOCKEY URINE SAMPLES:                  

9TH JULY 2023 – PERAK JULY MEETING 2023 

The report dated 20th July 2023 (V23/106) from the Chief Analyst of Usains Biomics  Laboratory stated that two (2) coded urine samples from the above-mentioned race meeting were received on 9th July 2023, for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations. No prohibited substances were detected


APPEAL BY JOCKEY SS VANAN [SARAVANAN A/L SUPRAMANIAN] AGAINST THE ONE (1) YEAR DISQUALIFICATION AND RM30,000.00 FINE IMPOSED BY THE PANEL OF STEWARDS UNDER MRA RULE 44(8) AS READ WITH MRA RULE 44(8) (a) IN CONNECTION WITH HIS RIDING AND HANDLING OF “TAUBOSS” IN RACE 4 (R407) – CLASS 4(B) – 1300M (LC) – 2ND DAY, SATURDAY,  15TH APRIL 2023 – PERAK TURF CLUB APRIL MEETING 2023. 

The Appellate Panel of Stewards heard the above appeal today, Wednesday, 12th July 2023.

After hearing the submissions of Jockey SS Vanan and the Senior Stipendiary Steward, and after reviewing the videos of the race, the Appellate Panel amended the charge to one under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards.

Jockey SS Vanan was suspended from riding in races for a period of six (6) months effective from 22nd April 2023 and to expire on 21st October 2023 (both dates inclusive) and the fine of RM30,000/- remained.  In addition, his deposit is forfeited.
