RACE 1 (R329) CLASS 5 – 1400M

MARATHON LAD (S Anandan) hesitated at the start and was slow into stride.

ZAC SUGGESTION (App S Rosmizan) was slow into stride.

ZENIDIN (L Sofhan) raced keen in the early and middle stages.

Approaching the 800M, FLYING HORSE (Lou Ho) was difficult to settle and then raced wide from the 700M until entering the home straight.

A post-race veterinary examination of FLYING HORSE revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 2 (R330) CLASS 5 – 1400M

MATA MATA and HEAVENLY GIFT, which were up 18kgs and 28kgs respectively in
body weight since their last runs, were checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to
the race and were
passed fit to start.

ONE MORE ACHIEVER (S Sandana) was restless in the barrier and fly-jumped at the start.

Passing the 1200M, DUE HOME (TM Wan) had to steady and brushed the running rail when MAYWEATHER (M Yusri) shifted in after receiving some pressure from ONE MORE ACHIEVER. DUE HOME lost speed and took little interest from the 900M. Jockey S Sandana, the rider of ONE MORE ACHIEVER, was shown the video replay of the incident and was warned to exercise more care when shifting ground in future. At about the same time, FIRST OPTION (L Sofhan) which was racing keenly, ran up to the heels of MATA MATA (HK Cheng) and had to steady outwards.

SOUTH EMPEROR (Lou Ho) was caught five wide from the home turn and into the home straight.

Approaching the 100M, ONE MORE ACHIEVER had to shift outwards over the heels of MATA MATA for a clear run.

RED SAPPHIRE (App CK Khaw) drifted outwards over the concluding stages and finished the race wide.

Post-race veterinary examinations of DUE HOME and EXCELLENT GOAL (S Anandan) revealed no obvious abnormality. DUE HOME which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again. EXCELLENT GOAL was Impounded for further veterinary and analytical examination.

KUANTAN HILL, a course scratching as it was bruised near fore cannon, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

SUPER CROWN, a course scratching as it had a sole bruise off fore, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

HAPPY SIXTYSIX which was down 17kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

App Z Khairil was fined RM500/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(2)(a) as read with MRA Rule 107(10) for failing to make the carded weight on DROUGHT. The Stewards permitted App KC Wong to replace App Z Khairil on DROUGHT.

RUNFORIT (S Sandana) was checked by the Veterinary Surgeon before the start and passed fit to race.

HIGHLAND FALCON (App S Saddam) raced wide on the bend into the home straight.

TAUBOSS (M Ganeesh) drifted outwards under pressure over the concluding stages and finished the race wide.

Post-race veterinary examinations of TAUBOSS and HIGHLAND FALCON revealed no obvious abnormality.

App CK Khaw, the rider of ALLIED MARINE, was dislodged after the race at the pull-up and was taken to hospital for observation. To avoid unnecessary delay, he was exempted from weighing in. A post-race veterinary of ALLIED MARINE revealed that the gelding was grazed off hind.

Trainer K Coetzee, when questioned regarding the apparent poor performance of I’M A GENIUS (M Yusri), advised the Stewards that I’M A GENIUS always races on the pace but from an extreme outside draw today, the gelding was trapped wide when making up ground around the field. In addition, I’M A GENIUS was racing over 500M more than its previous race when it won. The Stewards noted his explanation. A post-race veterinary examination of I’M A GENIUS revealed no obvious abnormality. The gelding which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again. I’M A GENIUS was Impounded for further veterinary and analytical examination.

RACE 4 (R332) CLASS 4 – 1100M

SACRED CITY (J De Souza) was difficult to be boxed and after being loaded into the barrier, reared and became cast. SACRED CITY was removed from the barrier, checked

by the Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to race. During this delay, TILSWORTH FREDDIE (J Low), drawn next to SACRED CITY, was also removed from the barrier and reboxed. SACRED CITY which was reboxed, reared and was cast the second time. To avoid unnecessary delay, SACRED CITY was withdrawn by order of the Stewards at 3.27 pm. SACRED CITY will be required to pass one starting stall test before being declared to race again.

CIZEN (HK Cheng) threw its head up at the start and was a little slow to begin.

OUR FRIENDLY DIVA (L Sofhan) was a little slow to begin.

Shortly after the start, SUPERB SEVEN (S Anandan) steadied when crowded between NOTHING TO LOSE (KT Cheng) and SUPREME STAR (TM Wan).

From an outside draw, THE MILLIONAIRE (M Ganeesh) raced four wide on the bend at the 800M.

MOGAN’S PET (App AM Aizat) raced wide of the field in the home straight.

App AM Aizat, the rider of MOGAN’S PET, reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormality.

A post-race veterinary examination of NOTHING TO LOSE revealed no obvious abnormality. The gelding was Impounded for further veterinary and analytical examination.

RACE 5 (R333) ENRICH STAKES A – 1200M

TRUSON, a course scratching as it had corneal ulcer right eye, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

CALIFORNIA CAT (HK Cheng) which could not be boxed and caused some delay, was withdrawn by order of the Stewards at 4.02 pm. The gelding will be required to pass one (1) starting stall test before being declared to race again.

The Stewards permitted App SU Lim to replace App CK Khaw on SPEED FLYING as the latter was sent to the hospital for observation.

SPEED FLYING (App SU Lim) hesitated at the start and was slow to begin.

Shortly after the start, SHINING GLORY (J Low) steadied when tightened on the inside of BIG LIGHTNING (J Shankar) which rolled inwards. At about the same time, BLACK AND WHITE (App AM Aizat) steadied off the heels of SPEED FLYING. Thereafter, BLACK AND WHITE was difficult to settle.

DROGBA (CK Tan) raced keen and was difficult to settle in the early part of the race.

REBEL FURY (App Z Khairil) was caught four wide on the turn at the 800M.

App S Rosmizan, the rider of HOLY EMPIRE, broke his whip at about the 300M.

App AM Aizat, the rider of BLACK AND WHITE reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormality.

Post-race veterinary examinations of REBEL FURY and TIDAL WAVE (L Sofhan) revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 6 (R334) CLASS 3 – 1400M

Emergency acceptor, FIELD FORCE was withdrawn due to a capacity field.

BRAVE MALALA which was down 17kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

The Stewards permitted Jockey M Ganeesh to replace Jockey S Salee on PEACEFUL WARRIOR as the latter was stood down by the Club Medical Officer.

BEAUTIFUL BABY (J Low) and IDEAL GUIDE (J De Souza) came together at the start and bumped.

At about the 900M, PEACEFUL WARRIOR (M Ganeesh) steadied on the inside of BRAVE MALALA (App J Daniel) which rolled inwards.

IMMORTALITY (S Ruzaini) and ROYAL GREEN (M Yusri) were both trapped five wide on the turn at the 700M and ROYAL GREEN raced wide into the home straight.

At about the 150M, BRAVE MALALA was brushed outwards by PERFECT PEARL (TM Wan) which rolled outwards.

App SU Lim, the rider of RIGHT TIMING, reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormality.

Post-race veterinary examinations of AMITYSHIP (CK Tan) and BEAUTIFUL BABY revealed no obvious abnormality. BEAUTIFUL BABY was Impounded for further veterinary and analytical examination.

HAPPY CHOICE (App S Rosmizan), which was leaning in the barrier, jumped awkwardly at the start.

SUPER BONUS raced keenly and was difficult to settle in the back straight. Thereafter, SUPER BONUS was trapped five wide at the 700M and raced wide into the home straight.

WHAT’S DAT (S Ruzaini) raced wide in the straight and finished the race wide.

At about the 150M, Jockey HK Cheng, the rider of RANGITAIKI, had his whip knocked out of his hand by App AM Aizat, the rider of TILSWORTH MALI, which was racing tight on his inside.

CABRERA (M Ganeesh) was held up for a clear run at the 100M.

App SU Lim, the rider of CHINO DIABLO, dropped his near side rein at about the 150M.

ZENIDEKKA (App KC Wong) was squeezed for galloping room in the concluding stages.

A post-race veterinary examination of SUPER BONUS revealed no obvious abnormality. The gelding was Impounded for further veterinary and analytical examination.

Jockey S Ruzaini, the rider of WHAT’S DAT, reported that his mount did not handle the going.

After being placed in the barrier, GOLDEN SAND (C Goon) was taken out of the barrier, checked by the Veterinary Surgeon, passed fit to race and reboxed.

At the start, EXPLOSIVE FORCE (App S Saddam) was slow to begin after being tightened between HUSSAR (App A Zaimuddin) which jumped awkwardly outwards, and HERE COMES THUNDER (S Sandana) which jumped awkwardly inwards.

DIRAC (Lou Ho) and HERE COMES THUNDER were both trapped five wide on the turn from the 700M.

RACE 6 (R327) MAIDEN – 1200M, 1ST DAY, SATURDAY, 11TH MARCH 2017, PENANG MARCH MEETING 2017

At the conclusion of an Inquiry today (12th March 2017), Jockey M Ganeesh, the rider of PICASSO, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding PICASSO in the above race at approximately the 800M mark, he failed to prevent his mount from shifting inwards across the path of MASTER OF SUCCESS (J De Souza) when he was not clear of that horse, causing MASTER OF SUCCESS to check and lost some ground.

When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into account the facts of this case, Jockey M Ganeesh’s guilty plea, his points of mitigation and his riding record. Jockey M Ganeesh was suspended from riding in races for a period of three (3) Malaysian race days with effect from Monday, 13th March 2017 and to expire on Sunday, 26th March 2017, both days inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal (1.30 pm).
