PENANG JUNE MEETING 2018 – 1ST DAY, SUNDAY,

RACE 1 (R734) CLASS 5 – 1400M

SILENT DREAMS, a course scratching as it had colic, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again. 

FASTNET STAR, a course scratching as it was bruised off fore fetlock, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

BLACK IS POWER (F Yap) reared and jumped away awkwardly as the gates were released and was slow to begin.

SATELLITE LEGEND (App AK Lim) showed no early pace despite being urged and failed to respond to the whip at the 1000M.

App AK Lim, the rider of SATELLITE LEGEND, reported that his mount was not striding out freely.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding returned lame off fore and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

Post-race veterinary examinations of TURNED OUT (S Anandan) and CHINESE STREET      (J Mallyon) revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 2 (R735)  CLASS 5  – 1400M          

PRINCE ISLANDER, a course scratching as it was bruised off fore fetlock, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

ELUSIVE GENIUS, COLONEL LINCOLN and RANGITAIKI, all course scratchings as they  had cellulitis both hind legs, a corn on the off fore foot and respiratory infection respectively, will each be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

GOLDEN DIAMOND which was up 16kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

GOLDEN DIAMOND (A Aucharuz) jumped away awkwardly and was slow into stride.

Racing to the 800M, GOLDEN DIAMOND had to be steadied on several occasions when racing tight on the inside of GRAND SHOW (M Ganeesh).

SAYANG ME (App AK Lim) and RUSH (App S Saddam) showed no early pace. 

D’GREAT NIMBUS (J Low) shifted in away from the whip racing to the 200M, obliging its rider to stop riding and straighten his mount.

Post-race veterinary examinations of GOLDEN DIAMOND, RUSH, GRAND SHOW, D’GREAT NIMBUS and ANAK PENANG (R Rueven) revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 3 (R736) CLASS 5 – 1100M                           

THONG’S JIAQING, a course scratching as it had a sore back will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again. 

ARCHAEOLOGY (S Anandan) raced wide from the 800M until entering the straight. 

D’GREAT WALL (App L De Souza) was disappointed for a run at the 250M between SUPREME SASSO (App R Ruwaidy) and TRIPLE COIN (App CK Khaw) and shifted in to obtain clear running. 

SWISS BANK (M Yusri) had to steady racing to the 200M when D’GREAT WALL shifted in away from the whip.  App L De Souza was shown the vision of the incident in the presence of his Master, Trainer R Lines and was advised to exercise greater care under similar circumstances.  

App M Sathiaa, the rider of GOLDEN EMPIRE and Jockey S Anandan, the rider of ARCHAEOLOGY, reported that their respective mounts were not striding out freely.  Post-race veterinary examinations revealed no obvious abnormality. 

Post-race veterinary examinations of SWISS BANK , ZAC GALLANT (App KC Wong), WARN YOU MAN (A Aucharuz) and TRIPLE COIN revealed no obvious abnormality.  

App L De Souza who rode his 40th winner on D’GREAT WALL in this race, would only be entitled to claim 2kgs allowance as from Monday, 11th June 2018.

RACE 4 (R737) CLASS 5 – 1100M                           

Emergency acceptor, OUR MATE CHARLIE was withdrawn due to a capacity field. 

LIVELY DRAGON, a course scratching as it was bruised near fore fetlock, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again. 

D’GREAT HAWK and GALLOPY SWIFT which were down 25kgs and 17kgs in body weight respectively since their last runs, were checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and were passed fit to start.

ZHAN SHEN (J Mallyon) was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon behind the barriers and was passed fit to race

GHOST CITY (SS Vanan) and D’GREAT LORD (App S Rosmizan) bumped on jumping away.

GOLDHILL PRINCESS (App CK Khaw) was slow into stride and showed no early pace despite being urged.

GHOST CITY had to steady at the 1000M when D’GREAT HAWK (App L De Souza) rolled in and D’GREAT LORD rolled out.

GHOST CITY hung out racing to the 800M and had to be steadied to avoid the heels of GALLOPY SWIFT (App  AK Lim).

GHOST BANK (C Goon) raced wide from the 700M until entering the straight.

App S Rosmizan, the rider of D’GREAT LORD was fined RM250/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for dropping his whip passing the 100M.

Jockey J Mallyon, the rider of ZHAN SHEN, reported that his mount was not striding out freely.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormality.

Post-race veterinary examinations of GHOST BANK, MULTI WEALTH (S Salee), D’GREAT HAWK and GOLDHILL PRINCESS revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 5 (R738) CLASS 4 – 1200M 

OUR RIVER DANCER, a course scratching as it had sustained a nail prick off fore foot, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

Trainer HS Lim was fined RM100/- under MRA Rule 65(5)(c) for failing to produce the declared colours for D’GREAT EMPRESS (F Yap).

LUCKY GIANT (App KC Wong) and FUNKADELIC (App AM Aizat) were both slow into stride.

D’GREAT EMPRESS rolled in about 100M after the start, resulting in PLATOON (App L De Souza) having to be checked, got its head up and raced ungenerously for a short distance.

ALAN (SU Lim) had to check racing to the 100M when  PLATOON rolled in and at the same time CIZEN (App CK Khaw) rolled out.  The Stewards were unable to attribute blame to any rider and therefore no action was taken.

App AK Lim, the rider of SMOOTHLY, reported that his mount was not striding out freely.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormality.

Post-race veterinary examinations of CIZEN, ALAN and ASPREY (S Salee) revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 6 (R739) CLASS 4 – 1200M 

Emergency acceptor, BLACK GHOST was withdrawn due to a capacity field.

WHAT IFF which was down 15kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.                     

OK KID (J Low) jumped away awkwardly throwing its head up, was slow into stride and showed no early pace.

JUTSU (S Ruzaini) was slow into stride.

Post-race veterinary examinations of JUTSU and WHAT IFF (S Anandan) revealed no obvious abnormality.  Both geldings were impounded for further veterinary and analytical examination.

The Stewards questioned Jockey S Ruzaini into the poor performance of JUTSU.  He stated that JUTSU had a fair jump but showed no early speed despite his urging when he used his whip at about the 1100M.  He further stated that JUTSU raced wide from the 800M until entering the straight and when he commenced to ride with the whip from the 400M, the gelding failed to respond to his riding and was disappointing.  His explanation was noted.  Trainer C Robert who was also questioned, stated that he had added blinkers/pacifiers on the gelding for the first time. In his opinion, they may not have suited JUTSU and that was the only explanation he could offer.  The Stewards noted his explanation and advised him to report back should he find anything amiss with JUTSU during the week.

Emergency acceptors, DING LIK and ANGELFIRE were both withdrawn due to a capacity field.

GOOD PEOPLE, a course scratching as it was bruised off fore fetlock, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

Trainer S Hamilton was fined RM100/- under MRA Rule 65(5)(c) for failing to produce the declared colours for D’GREAT EASY (App CK Khaw).

Trainer L Moy was fined RM100/- under MRA Rule 65(5)(c) for failing to produce the declared colours for WHAT (App W Faizal) .

D’GREAT LUCK which was down 22kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

RICH AND SMART (M Yusri) was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon behind the barriers and was passed fit to race.

SUPER ACE (App P Mogun) jumped away awkwardly.

PENDRAGON PRINCESS (App AM Aizat) was checked on jumping away when RICH AND SMART shifted out.

D’GREAT LUCK (HK Cheng) laid in under pressure racing to the 100M, obliging the rider to stop riding and straighten the gelding. 

App CK Khaw, the rider of D’GREAT EASY, reported that his mount was not striding out freely.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormality.

Post-race veterinary examinations of MYSTICAL STAR (App R Ruwaidy), PENDRAGON PRINCESS and WHAT revealed no obvious abnormality.  WHAT was impounded for further veterinary and analytical examination.

I’M A GENIUS, ULTIMATE HERO and BM POWER, all course scratchings as they had sustained a swollen near fore medial suspensory, a bruised right knee and a stone bruise off fore foot respectively, will each be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

FRANCES, a course scratching as it had fever, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again. 

BABY POLO (App AK Lim) was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon behind the barriers and was passed fit to race.

TRAVERTINE (M Yusri) jumped away awkwardly.

SEE FOR YOURSELF (App AM Aizat) shifted in shortly after the start, resulting in EQUALLY OPTIMISTIC (App S Saddam) being taken in onto TRAVERTINE which lost its position.  App AM Aizat was shown the vision of the incident and was advised to exercise greater care under similar circumstances.

Post-race veterinary examinations of D’GREAT TALENT (App CK Khaw), EQUALLY OPTIMISTIC and EASTWOOD (C Goon) revealed no obvious abnormality.

The report dated 1st June 2018 (V18/057) from the Chief Analyst of USains Biomics Laboratory stated that 24 bottles of coded urine samples and 24 sets of coded blood samples from the above mentioned race meeting were received on 19th May 2018 for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations.  No prohibited substances were detected.
