Emergency acceptors, THE PROFESSIONAL and ASTROHEAT were withdrawn due to a capacity field.

EASTWOOD, which was down 26kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

App Z Khairil was fined RM500/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) as read with MRA Rule 107(10) for failing to make the carded weight on LAZAROO. He was replaced by App S Saddam with the permission of the Stewards.

After being loaded into the barriers, WARN YOU MAN (SS Vanan) became restless and FIRST OPTION (App S Rosmizan) became restless and reared.

At the start, FLYING HORSE (S Ruzaini) jumped awkwardly inwards and SUPREME SASSO (R Woodworth) jumped awkwardly outwards. GREEN TRACER (App CC Foo) and LAZAROO were both tightened and had to be steadied out of this incident, losing some ground.

At about the 800M, THONG’S JIAQING (App M Sathiaa) was difficult to settle and steadied off the heels of LUCK TREASURE (App J Daniel) which received some pressure from UNCLE GLORY (App AM Aizat).

GREEN TRACER was caught wide on the turn into the home straight.

Post-race veterinary examinations of EASTWOOD (HS Gill), FIRST OPTION and LAZAROO revealed no obvious abnormality. LAZAROO was Impounded for further veterinary and analytical examination. EASTWOOD which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

RACE 2 (R710) CLASS 5 – 1200M

Emergency acceptors, LEE’S SURPRISE and COVER MAN were withdrawn due to a capacity field.

RANGITAIKI (S Anandan) was checked by the Veterinary Surgeon prior to the start at the request of the rider and was passed fit to race.

EXPLOSIVE FORCE (App AK Lim) hesitated at the start and was a little slow to begin.

GERMAN SPEED (App Z Khairil) jumped awkwardly outwards at the start and was a little slow to begin.

HERE COMES THUNDER (App AM Aizat) threw its head up at the start, jumped awkwardly, was slow to begin and checked shortly after the start.

SEE FOR YOURSELF (D Chong) had a tendency to lay outwards on the home turn and was unbalanced.

GERMAN SPEED was caught wide on the turn into the home straight.

Rounding the turn into the home straight, HERE COMES THUNDER steadied inwards.

EXPLOSIVE FORCE had a tendency to lay outwards in the home straight and finished the race wide.

1st Day, Saturday, 3rd June 2017

A post-race veterinary examination of TRIPLE COIN (App KC Wong) revealed no obvious abnormality except that the gelding returned having cast its near fore plate.

Post-race veterinary examinations of GERMAN SPEED and GREAT GERONIMO (App J Daniel) revealed no obvious abnormality. GREAT GERONIMO was impounded for further veterinary and analytical examination.

App AK Lim, the rider of EXPLOSIVE FORCE, reported that his mount was making respiratory noises. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormality. The gelding was Impounded for further veterinary and analytical examination.

Trainer J Tan, when questioned regarding the apparent improved performance of FLAMING FIREHEART (C Goon), advised the Stewards that FLAMING FIREHEART had a disappointing run in KL in its last outing on 13th May 2017 and he felt, in his opinion, that the extra distance of 1600M was too far for this horse. Trainer J Tan’s explanation was noted and his attention was drawn to the rules regarding “in-and-out” running (MRA Rule 117(3)).

After taking initial evidence from App AM Aizat in the presence of his Acting Master, Trainer Nor Azman, and Trainer KF Wong, the trainer of HERE COMES THUNDER, an Inquiry into the running and riding of HERE COMES THUNDER was adjourned to a date to be fixed.

Emergency acceptor, BM POWER was withdrawn due to a capacity field.

GOOD CODE, a course scratching as it was sore off fore fetlock, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

JETSTAR EAGLE (TM Wan) which was leaning in the barrier, jumped awkwardly outwards at the start, unbalanced Jockey TM Wan, and was a little slow to begin.

PERFECT FIXER (S Thai Yang) was difficult to settle in the back straight.

JETSTAR EAGLE and TOMORROW’S GOLD (D Chong) were both trapped four wide on the turn from the 700M to the top of the home straight.

In the concluding stages, ALACARTE (App SU Lim) and FAIRBORN (App AM Aizat) were inconvenienced when tightened between IT’S DONE MATE (App AK Lim) which drifted outwards, and GREAT PRINCE (App KC Wong) which laid inwards.

Post-race veterinary examinations of TOMORROW’S GOLD and PERFECT FIXER revealed no obvious abnormality. PERFECT FIXER was Impounded for further veterinary and analytical examination.

RACE 4 (R712) CLASS 4 – 1600M

GET THE LOTSKI (App KC Wong) hesitated at the start and shortly afterwards, steadied when tightened between PERFECT RUN (App T Krisna) which jumped awkwardly outwards and MATA MATA (R Woodworth) which jumped awkwardly inwards. PERFECT RUN and MATA MATA both bumped in this incident.

GOLD COAST CAPTAIN (App S Saddam) jumped awkwardly outwards and bumped GLORY AGE (S Thai Yang) at the start.

PERFECT PEARL (TM Wan) was difficult to settle in the back straight.

JOYFUL (App AK Lim) was caught wide on the turn into the home straight.

Jockey R Woodworth, the rider of MATA MATA, reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormality.

Post-race veterinary examinations of ROYAL EXPLORER (App S Rosmizan), PERFECT PEARL and GOLD COAST CAPTAIN revealed no obvious abnormality. ROYAL EXPLORER and GOLD COAST CAPTAIN were both Impounded for further veterinary and analytical examination.

RACE 5 (R713) ENRICH STAKES A – 1200M

SACRED CITY (SS Vanan) was difficult to be boxed and after being loaded into the barriers, became fractious, reared and got its front foot caught over the front partition. SACRED CITY was taken out of the barriers and checked by the Veterinary Surgeon. To avoid further delay, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of SACRED CITY at 3.30pm. The gelding will be required to pass a starting stall test before being declared to race again.

At the start, KERAUNO (S Anandan) jumped awkwardly outwards.

PROFESSOR X (S Salee) jumped awkwardly outwards at the start and bumped MIA (App L De Souza).

STICK SEEKER (Y Aify) hesitated at the start, jumped awkwardly inwards onto RIGHT TIMING (TM Wan) and was a little slow to begin.

At about the 1100M, PROFESSOR X raced tight on the inside of WORLD HARMONY (App Z Khairil) and brushed the running rail.

The saddle on STICK SEEKER slipped backwards during the running.

Jockey TM Wan, the rider of RIGHT TIMING, reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormality

RACE 6 (R714) CLASS 4 – 1100M

BIG ROLE, a course scratching as it was lame off fore, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

At the start, FIELD FORCE (TM Wan) jumped inwards, bumping SUPERB SEVEN (App AM Aizat) which had jumped awkwardly outwards. At the same time, NEVERUNCONDITIONAL (App J Daniel) was tightened when bumped between V RESPECT U (App S Saddam) which jumped awkwardly outwards, and MULTI WEALTH (S Anandan) which jumped awkwardly inwards. Shortly after this incident, V RESPECT U shifted inwards, bumping UNCLE POLO (App SU Lim) onto FIELD FORCE which was tightened on the outside of SUPERB SEVEN which continued to shift outwards.

Post-race veterinary examinations of GOOD MUMMY (App KC Wong) and AMI ELEVEN (App L De Souza) revealed no obvious abnormality. AMI ELEVEN was Impounded for further veterinary and analytical examination.

Jockey J Shankar, the rider of SMOOTHLY, reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormality.

At about the 900M, EQUALLY OPTIMISTIC (R Woodworth) steadied when racing tight between CLASSIC KING (App KC Wong) and BLACK RAIN (M Zairi) which had a tendency to lay inwards.

CLASSIC KING was momentarily held up for a clear run in the concluding stages of the race.

At about the 100M, MESSI (App J Daniel) switched outwards for a clear run and App J Daniel dropped his whip when changing his hold prior to the finish of the race. He was warned that a repetition of dropping his whip may lead to a penalty being imposed in the future.

A post-race veterinary examination of LA QUINTA (App SU Lim) revealed no obvious abnormality. The gelding was Impounded for further veterinary and analytical examination.

RACE 8 (R716) CLASS 5 – 1200M

Emergency acceptor, VICTORY MARCH was withdrawn due to a capacity field.

GO LANCE, a course scratching as it had a swelling at the near fore tendon, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

DETERMINE TO WIN, a course scratching as it suffered a nail prick on the near fore, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

SOUTH EMPEROR (HS Gill) was restless in the barrier.

SIR RALLY (D Chong) and SAND LANE (S Anandan) were difficult to settle in the back straight.

HUSSAR (App Z Khairil) was trapped wide rounding the bend at the 800M.

Approaching the 300M, SAND LANE was steadied when tightened on the outside of SOUTH EMPEROR which switched outwards around the heels of BLACK SEQUALO (App M Sathiaa).

At about the 300M, EMPIRE BAY (App AK Lim) and ROYAL CHOICE (App CC Foo) were tightened and had to steady on the outside of SOUTH EMPEROR which shifted outwards over the heels of BLACK SEQUALO for clear running.

The Veterinary Surgeon reported that ROYAL CHOICE returned exhibiting signs of respiratory distress and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

Jockey D Chong, the rider of SIR RALLY, reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding returned lame off fore. SIR RALLY will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

Post-race veterinary examinations of BAZINGA (S Salee), HUSSAR and SAND LANE revealed no obvious abnormality. BAZINGA and HUSSAR were both Impounded for further veterinary and analytical examination.

RACE 9 (R717) CLASS 5 – 1600M

SERPICO and MONTE CARLO, both course scratchings as they were bruised off fore fetlock, will each be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

WATER PARK, a course scratching as it sustained a cut on the left cheek, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

PISCES JET which was down 15kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

LEAP OF FAITH (CK Tan) hesitated at the start and was slow to jump.

COCONUT (R Woodworth) and RACING MAN (App M Sathiaa) were slow into stride.

ELEGENT (D Chong) dipped at the crossing at the 1500M.

COCONUT showed no pace despite being urged.

The Veterinary Surgeon reported that ONE MORE ACHIEVER (App AM Aizat) returned cut into near hind coronet and will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again. The gelding was Impounded for further veterinary and analytical examination.

Post-race veterinary examinations of ELEGENT and LEAP OF FAITH revealed no obvious abnormality. LEAP OF FAITH was Impounded for further veterinary and analytical examination.

App Z Khairil (SOUTH EMPEROR), when questioned regarding the incident at the start, advised the Stewards that when the gates were released, SOUTH EMPEROR fly-jumped and he lost his balance and was dislodged. The Stewards noted his explanation.

WITHDRAWAL OF APPEAL BY JOCKEY J LOW AGAINST THE 2 DAYS’
SUSPENSION IMPOSED BY THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS UNDER MRA
RULE 44(9)(a)(ii) IN CONNECTION WITH HIS RIDING OF “HOLDING FAST”

IN RACE 4 (R542) CLASS 4 – 1300M, SUNDAY, 30 APRIL 2017, 3RD DAY, PENANG APRIL MEETING 2017

On 29th May 2017, Jockey J Low submitted a written request to withdraw his Appeal against the 2 days’ suspension imposed by the Stipendiary Stewards for careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in connection with his riding of HOLDING FAST in Race 4, Sunday, 30th April 2017.

On 3rd June 2017, the PNTC Racing Stewards considered Jockey J Low’s request which was acceded to. The Racing Stewards deemed Jockey J Low’s deposit as forfeited. His suspension of 2 Malaysian race days will take effect from Sunday, 4th June 2017 and will expire on Sunday, 11th June 2017, both days inclusive.

POST-RACE URINE (EQUINE): 14th MAY 2017
PERAK TURF CLUB MAY MEETING 2017

The report dated 26th May 2017 (V17/056) from the Chief Analyst of Usains Biomics Laboratory stated that 28 coded urine and 32 sets of coded blood samples from the above mentioned race meeting were received on 14th May 2017 for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations. No prohibited substances were detected, except for sample coded

“23406” which upon analysis, was tested positive to “Caffeine”, a prohibited substance.

Upon decoding, it was established that sample coded “23406” was taken from
CELERITAS, trained by Trainer S Cook.

The report dated 26th May 2017 (V17/057) from the Chief Analyst of Usains Biomics Laboratory stated that 2 coded urine samples from the above mentioned race meeting were received on 14th May 2017 for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations. No prohibited substances were detected.

RACE 9 (R623) CLASS 4 – 1200M(sc) – SUN SUPREME HANDICAP PERAK MAY MEETING 2017 – 1st DAY, SUNDAY, 14th MAY 2017

CELERITAS, trained by Trainer S Cook, was withdrawn by order of the Stewards as it had failed its pre-race test and was impounded.

USains Biomics Laboratory report dated 29th May 2017 confirmed that the impounded sample which was taken from CELERITAS contained “Caffeine”, a prohibited substance.

Trainer S Cook was informed of the findings on 30th May 2017 and advised that under MRA Rule 134(12), CELERITAS is barred from racing until a cleared sample is provided. Trainer S Cook was also advised of MRA Rule 137 with reference to the referee sample. An Inquiry will be held at a date to be fixed.

INQUIRY INTO THE SAMPLE TAKEN FROM “CELERITAS” WHICH WAS

WITHDRAWN FROM RACE 9 (R623) CLASS 4 – 1200M(sc) – SUN SUPREME HANDICAP, PERAK MAY MEETING 2017 – 1st DAY, SUNDAY, 14th MAY 2017, WHEN IT FAILED ITS PRE-RACE TEST AND THE IMPOUNDED SAMPLE

CODED “23406” RETURNED POSITIVE TO “CAFFEINE”, A PROHIBITED SUBSTANCE.

The Stipendiary Stewards on Friday, 2nd June 2017 concluded an Inquiry into the above matter at PRTC.

Evidence were taken from Trainer S Cook, the trainer of CELERITAS.

Trainer S Cook pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 134(6)(a) as read with MRA Rule 134(13) and punishable under MRA Rule 134(7) in that he, as the trainer and person responsible for presenting CELERITAS to run in the above race. CELERITAS was withdrawn prior to the race as it had failed its pre-race test and its impounded sample coded “23406”, subsequently upon analysis returned positive to “Caffeine”, a prohibited substance under the MRA Rules & Regulations.

When deciding on a penalty, the Stewards took into account Trainer S Cook’s guilty plea, mitigating factors and his previous records. Trainer S Cook was fined a sum of RM5,000/-. He was informed of his Right of Appeal (10.10am).

APPEAL BY JOCKEY HK CHENG AGAINST THE 4 MONTHS’

SUSPENSION & RM20,000/- FINE IMPOSED BY THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS UNDER MRA RULE 44(10) IN

CONNECTION WITH HIS RIDING AND HANDLING OF “GREEN TRACER” IN RACE 2 (R209), CLASS 5 – 1000M(sc) – TAKARAZUKA KINEN HANDICAP, PERAK FEBRUARY MEETING – 2ND DAY, SUNDAY, 12TH FEBRUARY 2017

The PRTC Racing Stewards today, Thursday, 25th May 2017 heard the above Appeal at Perak Turf Club.

After hearing the submissions from Jockey HK Cheng and the Acting Chief Stipendiary Steward, the Racing Stewards dismissed the above appeal.

Jockey HK Cheng’s four months suspension from riding in races will take immediate effect from today, Thursday, 25th May 2017 and will expire on Sunday, 24th September 2017, both dates inclusive. In addition, the fine of RM20,000/- imposed remains. His deposit was forfeited.

PRTC TRACKWORK – TUESDAY, 30TH MAY 2017

PEGASUS GENIUS (F526) bled during the official Steward’s Embargo Test on Tuesday (30/05/2017) and as such will be barred from racing for a period of 3 months under MRA Rule 92 (3)(a)&(b) and thereafter, will be required to pass a Bleeder’s Test before being declared to race again.

REINSTATEMENT OF JOCKEY’S LICENSE:

App AK Lim’s license to ride in races under MRA Rule 48(8)(b) with effect from 3rd
June 2017 was reinstated.

GENERAL REPORT – SLTC

HEARING FOR AN APPLICATION FOR A STAY OF SENTENCE BY JOCKEY M GANEESH IN RELATION TO HIS SUSPENSION OF 4 MONTHS AND FINE OF RM20,000/- FOR CONTRAVENTION OF MRA RULE 44(10) IMPOSED BY THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS IN CONNECTION WITH HIS RIDING OF “ARC CARA” IN RACE 5 (R609) CLASS 4 – 1400M (SHORT COURSE A), SATURDAY, 13 MAY 2017, SELANGOR TURF CLUB MAY MEETING 2017

Jockey M Ganeesh subsequently exercised his Right of Appeal and applied for a Stay of Sentence against the penalty of the suspension of 4 months and fine of RM20,000/-imposed by the Stipendiary Stewards on 26 May 2017.

The Stewards, on 1 June 2017, heard an application for a Stay of Sentence by Jockey M Ganeesh. After hearing his submission and after careful consideration, the Stipendiary Stewards decided NOT to grant Jockey M Ganeesh a Stay of Sentence. His suspension commenced on 28 May 2017 and to expire on 27 September 2017, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal against the decision of the Stipendiary Stewards to the SLTC Racing Stewards (11:15am).

The appeal hearing against the penalty of the suspension of 4 months and fine of RM20,000/- will be held at a date to be fixed.
