RACE 1 (R1575) CLASS 5 – 1400M

HUSSAR, a course scratching as it had respiratory infection, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

The Stewards granted permission for Jockey M Yusri to replace Jockey S John as the rider of FAIBORN as the latter was unable to make his carded weight. Jockey S John was warned that a repetition under similar circumstances in future will lead to a penalty being imposed.

PISCES JET (R Rueven) was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon behind the barriers and was passed fit to race.

CHARLIE CAME ALONG (Z Khairil) and PISCES JET were both slow to begin.

COCONUT (App KC Wong) was slow to begin and showed no pace despite being urged.

EMPEROR WARRIOR (SU Lim) rolled in at about the 700M carrying D’GREAT ARES (App AM Aizat) inwards resulting in BLACK IS POWER (J De Souza) having to be steadied for a few strides, losing its position.

The Stewards questioned Trainer KF Coetzee into the improved performance of CHARLIE CAME ALONG. He stated that the gelding had trialled fairly well in 2 Starting Stall Tests after missing the start badly on 25 November 2017 at Perak Turf Club. He had advised the connections that if the gelding could jump out fairly with the field, it would run a good race. His explanation was noted and his attention was drawn to MRA Rule 117(3) regarding in and out running.

App R Rueven, the rider of PISCES JET, reported that his horse was not striding out freely. Post-race veterinary examinations of EMPEROR WARRIOR, COCONUT, PISCES JET and JACKPOT (App S Saddam) revealed no obvious abnormality.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that BLACK IS POWER returned with a cut to its off fore coronet.
