RACE 1 (R 512) CLASS 5 – 1100M

FIRST OPTION (L Sofhan) was restless in the barrier prior to the start.

LEE’S MELODY (SS Vanan) jumped awkwardly and was a little slow to begin at the start.

At about the 800M, FIRST OPTION steadied off the heels of DUBLEO BEAUTY (S Sandana).

MOONBEAM DAZZLER (R Woodworth) was caught wide on the turn at the 700M.

THE PROFESSIONAL (S Thai Yang) raced wide on the home turn and into the home straight.

EAGLE SOAR (App T Krisna) had a tendency to lay outwards in the home straight.

A post-race veterinary examination of BLACK SORCERER (HK Cheng) revealed no obvious abnormality. The gelding was Impounded for further veterinary and analytical examination.

Jockey S Sandana, the rider of DUBLEO BEAUTY, weighed in 1 kg over the weight which he had weighed out. An Inquiry into this matter will be held at a date to be fixed.

RACE 2 (R 513) CLASS 5 – 1100M

PIUS TOUCH, a course scratching as it was sore near fore tendon, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

ZENIDEKKA which was up 16kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

WASHINGTON BAY (M Yusri) was restless in the barrier, jumped awkwardly and was a little slow to begin at the start.

HERE COMES THUNDER (S Sandana) jumped awkwardly and was slow to begin at the start.

WASHINGTON BAY was caught four wide on the turn at about the 700M.

Rounding the turn at about the 600M, SEE FOR YOURSELF (App AM Aizat) steadied when bumped between ZENIDEKKA (App S Saddam) and RANGITAIKI (HK Cheng). Shortly afterwards, HERE COMES THUNDER steadied off the heels of SEE FOR YOURSELF.

Shortly after the 500M, HERE COMES THUNDER steadied off the heels of BAZINGA (App R Ruwaidy).

ACIPENSER (WK Yan) raced wide into the home straight and drifted outwards away from the whip, finishing the race wide.

Approaching the 200M, HAPPY CHOICE (App S Rosmizan) drifted outwards. Shortly afterwards, FULL MEANING (Lou Ho) which had a tendency to lay inwards, brushed HAPPY CHOICE which was tightened between FULL MEANING and D’GREAT WALL (S Ruzaini) which received some pressure from MASTER OF SUCCESS (App KC Wong). FULL MEANING continued to lay inwards towards the finish of the race.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that WASHINGTON BAY bled and will be barred from racing for a period of three (3) months under MRA Rule 92(3)(a)&(b) and thereafter will be required to pass a bleeder’s test before being declared to race again.

A post-race veterinary examination of ACIPENSER revealed that the gelding returned exhibiting signs of respiratory distress and as such, ACIPENSER will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

RACE 3 (R514) MAIDEN – 1400M

D’GREAT NIMBUS (Lou Ho) was withdrawn by order of the Stewards at 2.49 pm acting on veterinary advice that it sustained a cut on the off hind. The mare will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

CONDADO (S Ruzaini) was pulling and was difficult to settle in the back straight.

Approaching the first turn at about the 800M, MR NEWMAN (S Salee) steadied on the inside of TOKO (R Woodworth), and MAGIC RANGER (L Sofhan) which was following, checked outwards from this incident.

The Veterinary Surgeon reported that MR NEWMAN returned having cast its off hind plate.

A post-race veterinary examination of CONDADO revealed no obvious abnormality. The gelding was Impounded for further veterinary and analytical examination.

App M Sathiaa, the rider of GOLDEN EMPIRE, was shown the video replay of the finish in the presence of his Master, Trainer S Cook and was warned that he must ride all his mounts out fully to the finish of the race. In issuing this warning, the Stewards were satisfied that GOLDEN EMPIRE could not have beaten the winner.

Emergency acceptor, GASSUR was withdrawn due to a capacity field.

MEGUSTO which was down 15kgs and WATER PARK which was up 17kgs in body weight since their last runs, were checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and were passed fit to start.

SIAM THE TRIUMPH (S Salee) was restless in the barrier and reared just prior to the start.

At the start, D’GREAT VULTURE (HS Gill) jumped awkwardly inwards onto BUTCH CASSIDY (S Sandana) which was slow to begin.

MEGUSTO (App T Krisna) hesitated at the start and was slow to begin.

EBTIHAAL (App Z Khairil) jumped awkwardly and was a little slow to begin.

Shortly after the start, DOMINATE (Lou Ho) steadied on the inside of SIAM THE TRIUMP which drifted inwards.

ARAGORN (R Woodworth) had a tendency to lay inwards in the home straight.

At about the 200M, SIAM THE TRIUMPH steadied on the inside of ECLIPSE STAR (S Ruzaini) which rolled away from the whip.

EBTIHAAL which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

The Veterinary Surgeon reported that DRAGON WARRIOR (J Shankar) returned lame off fore and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

A post-race veterinary examination of D’GREAT VULTURE revealed no obvious abnormality. The gelding was Impounded for further veterinary and analytical examination.

KAISER (Lou Ho) jumped awkwardly outwards at the start.

At the start, TAWQEET (S Salee) jumped awkwardly outwards and bumped ORIENTAL SPIRIT (App S Rosmizan) onto HEART’S CHOICE (M Ganeesh) which was slow to begin.

At the start, LEE BANK (SS Vanan) was tightened between CIZEN (S Ruzaini) which jumped awkwardly outwards and NOTHING TO LOSE (TM Wan) which received some pressure from DAWN PROSPECT (F Yap) on its outside.

HEART’S CHOICE raced wide on the bend from the 800M.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that HEART’S CHOICE bled and will be barred from racing for a period of three (3) months under MRA Rule 92(3)(a)&(b) and thereafter will be required to pass a bleeder’s test before being declared to race again.

A post-race veterinary examination of HUSSAR (App CT Lee) revealed that the gelding returned having cast its off fore plate.

Post-race veterinary examinations of GABBAR and SAND LANE (HK Cheng) revealed no obvious abnormality. GABBAR was Impounded for further veterinary and analytical examination.

D’GREAT RICH (Lou Ho) jumped awkwardly outwards at the start.

FIELD FORCE (TM Wan) and OUR TOUCHE (App Z Khairil) were slow to begin.

At about the 800M, EQUALLY OPTIMISTIC (S Thai Yang) became unbalanced when racing tight on the inside of HIGHLAND FALCON (App S Saddam).

Rounding the turn at about the 400M, HIGHLAND FALCON stumbled, unbalancing App S Saddam. STRAIGHTTOTHEPOINT (App T Krisna) which was following, steadied outwards in this incident.

Post-race veterinary examinations of STRAIGHTTOTHEPOINT and D’GREAT RICH revealed no obvious abnormality. D’GREAT RICH was Impounded for further veterinary and analytical examination.

The Veterinary Surgeon reported that FIELD FORCE returned having cast its off fore plate.

STORM HERO, a course scratching as it was sore near fore foot (nail prick), will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

ONE MORE ACHIEVER which was down 20kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

ALFRAAJ (S Salee) which was restless, got cast over the barrier partition, was taken out for a veterinary examination and passed fit to race.

KING SAVINSKY (L Sofhan) brushed the outside gate on jumping.

ONE MORE ACHIEVER (S Sandana) jumped awkwardly at the start. Shortly afterwards, KING SAVINSKY and ONE MORE ACHIEVER bumped.

CHARLIE CAME ALONG (S Anandan) and COCONUT (R Woodworth) were both slow into stride.

Passing the 500M, MOLLY BROWNE (WK Yan) had to steady when racing up onto the heels of GHOST CITY (S Thai Yang).

Passing the 200M, GHOST CITY laid outwards and Jockey S Thai Yang had to straighten his mount on a few occasions.

Jockey S Thai Yang, the rider of GHOST CITY, was questioned regarding his ride over the concluding stages. An Inquiry into this matter will be held at a date to be fixed.

Post-race veterinary examinations of ALFRAAJ and CHARLIE CAME ALONG revealed no obvious abnormality. CHARLIE CAME ALONG was Impounded for further veterinary and analytical examination.

Passing the 1200M, HIGH PEAK (S Anandan) had to steady when SACRED ACHIEVER (App S Rosmizan) shifted inwards. App S Rosmizan would be shown the video replay of the incident at a date to be fixed.

SHARP KNIGHT (J Shankar) and CHINESE STREET (S Sandana) showed no pace despite being urged.

Post-race veterinary examinations of LIM’S PERFECT (HS Gill) and THONG’S JIAQING (J Chuah) revealed no obvious abnormality. THONG’S JIAQING was Impounded for further veterinary and analytical examination.

When questioned regarding the apparent improved performance of HAHA BABE, Trainer F Maynard stated that HAHA BABE had returned to form and did an impressive barrier test on Tuesday, 18th April 2017. He further stated that in its last start on 25th March 2017, HAHA BABE was caught wide on a rain affected track. His explanation was noted and his attention was drawn to the rules regarding “In-and-Out” running (MRA Rule 117(3)).

RACE 3 (R494) CLASS 4 – 1200M (SHORT COURSE A), MITAVITE CUP, SUNDAY, 16 APRIL 2017, SELANGOR TURF CLUB APRIL MEETING 2017

Jockey S Ruzaini subsequently exercised his Right of Appeal and applied for a Stay of Sentence. The Stewards considered the application for a stay which was allowed. The appeal hearing against the penalty of the suspension of 3 Malaysian race days will be held at a date to be fixed.

Trainer F Maynard was fined RM1000/- (RM250/- for each horse) for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for allowing BLADEMEISTER, MAZANDARAN, STAR CHOICE and IMPEL to do slow work on Track No. 2 during trackwork on 18 April 2017, which is contrary to the Track Regulations.

The PNTC Racing Stewards considered the application by App SU Lim (JUST NAME IT) to withdraw his appeal against the 2 days’ suspension imposed by the Stipendiary Stewards for careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii). His application was accepted and his suspension will take effect from 17th April 2017 and to expire on 23rd April 2017 (both dates inclusive). However, his deposit was forfeited.

RACE 3 (R359) CLASS 4 – 1700M, SATURDAY, 18TH MARCH 2017, 3RD DAY, PENANG TURF CLUB MARCH MEETING 2017

When questioned regarding the improved performance of MR PAULANDRE (J De Souza), Trainer LN Danis stated that the gelding was kept fresh on the 2nd weekend and its condition had picked up as compared to its previous start on 12th March 2017 at the Penang Turf Club. His explanation was noted and his attention was drawn to the rules regarding “In-and-Out” running (MRA Rule 117(3)).

App A Zaimuddin was fined RM500/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for accepting rides on 22nd and 23rd April 2017 when he did not hold a valid current licence to ride at the Penang Turf Club.
