Crowded on jumping, losing ground. Raced fiercely, throwing its head between the 1200M and the 950M. Rider explained that the gelding was inclined to grab the side of the bit and laid outwards.

Attempted to jump a section of the track at the 1400M, becoming unbalanced.

IRON FIST

Slow into stride and then raced rearward. *(See Report)

When questioned, Jockey MM Firdaus (IRON FIRST) advised the he had been instructed to ride in midfield position, however shortly after the start, the gelding had shown no pace and was off the bit. He had subsequently ridden in a rearward position and the gelding had shown no response to his hard riding in the straight.

Trainer KC Tiang stated that IRON FIRST was inclined not to race competitively in the early stages and considered that it may be better suited over the further ground. In light of this, Trainer KC Tiang was advised to ensure that he engages a strong rider for IRON FIRST at future starts.

When questioned regarding the apparent improved performance, Trainer HY Cheng advised that at its previous start, the gelding had fly-jumped at the start and subsequently had to be ridden from its wide barrier in a rearward position, and had run on well in the straight. He also believed that the gelding was better suited with a more experienced rider. Trainer fined RM250/- for failing to declare Special Bit within the prescribed time.

Crowded runner near the 900M. Rider warned that he must afford runner sufficient room. Rider fined RM250/- for failing to weigh in expeditiously. Vet inspection: No significant finding.

When the start was effected, the mare jumped awkwardly with the Apprentice striking his left leg heavily on the gate and became unbalanced, losing his left stirrup iron, which he regained near the 1100M. The mare was subsequently in a rearward position.

GAIN ECLIPSE

Tightened shortly after the start and had to be checked when crowded at the 800M.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey WK Lee, the rider of OISIN EXPRESS, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that he shifted in at the 800M, causing GAIN ECLIPSE (App A Suriya) to be checked.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey WK Lee’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days, to be deferred, with effect from 12 December 2022 and to expire on 24 December 2022, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal (4:48pm).

The Stewards inquired into the reason for WISHUPONASTAR checking near the 800M. It was established that KRATOS which was racing keenly, shifted in at this stage and when alleviating pressure, was held tight when BIG BAD MAMA shifted in.

The Stewards could not be satisfied to prefer a charge in terms of the Rules, however, warned the riders to exercise caution.

GENERAL REPORT(S) – SLTC

TUESDAY, 29 NOVEMBER 2022, SLTC TRACKWORK 

Trainer F Maynard was fined RM250/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for contravening the SLTC Trackwork Regulations for presenting FORSA ECLIPSE for slow work on the track which was designated for fast work on the above date.

The report dated 24 November 2022 (V22/181) from the Chief Analyst of Veterinary Forensic Laboratory stated that 34 coded urine and 34 sets of coded blood samples from the above mentioned race meeting were received on 20 November 2022, for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations. No prohibited substances were detected.
