*(See Report). Rider reported the gelding was making respiratory noises. Vet inspection: Bled – Barred 3 months.

When questioned, Trainer F Maynard advised that he had instructed GIANT KILLING to be able to relax early, however it had become uncompetitive in the early stages despite App A Nazir’s urging. It was his intention to remove the tongue-tie as he considered that it might have resented racing in this and further, would increase the distance in the gelding’s races.

App R Nuqman was unable to make the carded weight on BIG DRAGON and was replaced by App K Pavinthran. In light of having weight issue previously and being unable to make the weight, he was fined RM1000/- under MRA Rule 107(10).

Vet inspection of the gelding which finished last: Broken-winded. In light of the fact that the gelding had a previous embargo for this condition, Trainer advised that he would recommend to the owners that the gelding undergo corrective surgery and 1000M/vet test.

When questioned, App S Sia (KIRIN) advised that although he was instructed to ride midfield, he had been left in front from his inside draw and the gelding had commenced to race fiercely, from near the 1400M, he had consequently lead.

Had to be restrained and taken outwards near the 350M, then shifted out, bumping runner at the 200M. Rider dropped his whip at the 125M and fined RM250/-.

The Stewards questioned Jockey S Ruzaini (D’GREAT SWIFT) related to his equipment. It was ascertained that Jockey S Ruzaini after entering the stalls, had undone the breast check on the off side as he believed it was too tight and was concerned it would impede the gelding’s action. Further, the Stewards fined Jockey S Ruzaini RM250/- for failing to report this incident upon returning to the scales.

Tightened badly near the 900M, striking the running rail and checked severely. *(See Report)

At the conclusion of an inquiry, App I Fikri, the rider of GINGERELLA, in the presence of his Employing Trainer’s representative, Trainer MW Teh, pleaded guilty to a charge of reckless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(i) in that he shifted in at this stage.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App I Fikri’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record, his submissions on penalty and the severity of the incident. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of one (1) month with effect from 21 November 2022 and to expire on 20 December 2022, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal (4:18pm).
