Rider was examined by the Club Doctor who subsequently stood him down from his riding engagements for the remainder of the races today

Showed no early pace and subsequently raced rearward.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, App KH Chong, the rider of JET TWENTY, in the presence of his Employing Trainer, R Lines, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that he shifted in causing ZAZU to check at the 1100M.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App KH Chong’s guilty plea, his unblemished riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days with effect from 17 April 2023 and to expire on 29 April 2023, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

An objection was lodged by MW Teh, the Trainer of MAT SMART (App I Fikri), placed fourth, against STRONG N POWERFUL (CK Khaw), placed second, alleging interference over the final 300M. The Panel of Stewards dismissed the objection. As the Panel of Stewards deemed the objection to be frivolous, Trainer MW Teh was fined RM2000/- under the provisions of MRA Rule 122(3).

At the conclusion of an inquiry, App I Fikri, the rider of STEEL CUTTER, in the presence of B Trainer Nagarajan a/l Supromaniam, his Employing Trainer’s representative, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that he shifted in at about the 175M and tightened MICHIKAWA (HS Gill) causing it to restrain.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App I Fikri’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, good riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Selangor race days with effect from 6 May 2023 and to expire on 7 May 2023, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey HS Gill, the rider of MICHIKAWA, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that he shifted in at the 1250 and crowded CHINO DINERO.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey HS Gill’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days, to be deferred, with effect from 24 April 2023 and to expire on 30 April 2023, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

GENERAL REPORT(S) – SLTC

RACE 6 (R399) Class 5b – 1400M (C4 lc) & RACE 10 (R403)   Class 5b – 1250M (C4 lc), SUNDAY, 9 APRIL 2023, SELANGOR TURF CLUB APRIL MEETING 2023

Upon review, the Stewards, on Tuesday, 11 April 2023, questioned App M Ekdihar related to his whip use on STRONG N BRAVE (Race 6) and SMART MASTER (Race 10).

The Stewards accepted that App M Ekdihar was having only his fourth and fifth ride since resuming from a lengthy suspension but warned him that he must moderate the use of his whip so as to allow his mounts time to respond. He was further referred for retraining at the SLTC Apprentice School.


INQUIRY INTO THE FAILURE TO ATTEND BY STR MUHAMMAD FAREZUL BIN AZIZ WHEN INSTRUCTED BY THE STEWARDS ON TUESDAY, 11 APRIL 2023 AT THE SELANGOR TURF CLUB

Following an inquiry on Friday, 14 April 2023, Senior Track Rider Muhammad Farezul Bin Aziz (STR.84) pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 152(5)(b) for having failed to obey an order of the Stewards by not attending to supply a sample when ordered to do so.

He was subsequently suspended from riding trackwork for a period of two (2) months with effect from 12 April 2023 and to expire on 11 June 2023, both dates inclusive.


 POST RACE URINE (EQUINE):             

1 & 2 APRIL 2023

SELANGOR TURF CLUB APRIL MEETING 2023                                                                       

A report dated 13 April 2023 (V23/048) from the Chief Analyst of Veterinary Forensic Laboratory stated that 36 coded urine and 36 sets of coded blood samples from the above mentioned race meeting were received on 2 April 2023, for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations. No prohibited substances were detected except for sample coded “34819” which revealed the presence of “flunixin”. After decoding the sample number, it was established that this sample was reported to have been taken from the horse “NORTHERN KNIGHT”, which finished first in Race 8 on Sunday, 2 April 2023 at the Selangor Turf Club April Meeting 2023.

 On 14 April 2023, Mr Nagarajan a/l Supromaniam, B Trainer for Trainer MP Thwaites, was advised of the contents of this report and his attention drawn to MRA Rule 134(12) which prohibits this horse from racing until it is cleared by the Stewards, and MRA Rule 137(1)/MRA Regulation 46.1 & 46.2 relating to the referee sample. An inquiry will be held at a date to be fixed.
