With the Spring Festival and the birth of Lunar New Year fast approaching, the Selangor Turf Club welcomes racing fans to come together in ushering in the Year Of The Dog at Selangor Turf Club.

The Selangor Turf Club’s race meeting in the Year Of The Dog will begin on Saturday, February 17, 2018, which marks the second day of Lunar New Year. Patrons visiting the Sungei Besi Racecourse will be welcomed by the display of red lanterns and decorations to mark the Chinese community tradition, signifying auspiciousness and prosperity.

Among the events that have been arranged by the Club on February 17 are, Welcome Greetings by Lion Dance, Giveaway of Mandarin Oranges and Auspicious Opening at the Parade Ring before first race. The Acrobatic Lion Dance team is set to entertain the racing fans on Sunday, 18 February. In conjunction with the celebration, races on the weekend will be named after Chinese auspicious names.

On the racing front, racing fans will witness the running of the first sponsored race at SLTC for the 2018 racing season on 17 February 2018. The OUG Jade Cup, sponsored by OUG Jade Restaurant, is Open to horses rated 87 and above running over a distance of 1200 metres and offering prize money of RM55,000.00.

OUG Jade Restaurant, situated in Overseas Union Garden, Kuala Lumpur offers Chinese Cuisine dining for lunch & dinner and is open 7 days in a week.

Meanwhile, the following weekend, Saturday, 24 and Sunday, 25 February will see the running of the second sponsored race on 25 February. Sponsored by MYDora Jewelry Sdn Bhd, MyDora Cup is open to horses in Class 4 and to be run over a distance of 1800 metres carrying prize money of RM48,000.00.
