Fitness is a key element of success for any race rider. The Selangor Turf Club Apprentice School students do two modules each week in the Club’s bespoke equipped gymnasium. Programs and training regimes are set by a specialist Exercise Physiologist from the Majlis Sukan Negara designed specifically to enhance each apprentice’s fitness level as well as ensure their mobility and core strength.
In line with the Club’s commitment to apprentice training and as an adjunct to the physical training regimes, the SLTC enlisted Kea I, a professional yoga instructor with nine years background, to give the students an introduction to the ancient philosophical, art science.
The initial yoga session was conducted in the Club’s paddock in the shade of the grandstand. During the hour long session, yoga principles and philosophy were explained to the students and they also undertook several basic movements.
