Trainer Lawson Moy’s Splendor ran true to his form to capture the main feature event of the day – The Sports Toto Supreme Challenge Cup over 1400m in Race 8. The six-year-old by Pure Prize was tucked in handy mid field spot most of the journey and with regular rider Apprentice W Faizal on board came with the usual burst of finish at the closing stages of the race to beat fast finishing Tiger Bay and front runner Browcow. Judging from the running of the race, Splendor could be even better over a longer trip.
Trainer S. Sivakumar’s Kita Teamwork broke the ice in a fine fashion in Race 4 and bears watching for more wins. The four-year-old by Dick Turpin coming from pole position and with Apprentice AM Aizat on board won the race in a convincing manner. Take a note of newcomer Volante General who finish second to Platoon in Race 6 should break the ice soon. Trained by Wayne Lim, the four-year-old by Pierro was mid field at the early part of the race and ran gamely to finish on board.
Leading trainer Richard Lines and apprentice L De Souza both hogged the limelight with four winners each at Selangor Turf club last Sunday. Richard Lines teamed up with apprentice L De Souza in Race 2 with Champagne Rose, and then in Race 5 with D’ Great Hawk, and in Race 7 with Metier Star. With the other winner was in Race 6 with Platoon, ridden by jockey HK Cheng on board. Richard Lines still tops the table with 75 winners’ while Frank Maynard who saddled a winner in Race 10 with The Dogger is currently in second spot with 65 winners.

Trainer Lawson Moy took the main feature event of the day with Splendor in Race 8 and the second winner with Thank You Boss in the last event of the day.

Trainer S. Sivakumar saddled a double too, with Alien in Race 2 and Kita Teamwork in Race 4.

Trainer Shane Ellis who moved from Singapore saddled his first winner in the local circuit with Southern Man in Race 9.

He was formerly attached to trainer Laurie Laxon.

Former jockey turn trainer Peter Lee and Apprentice KC Wong both from Perak celebrated their birthday is style yesterday  by opening the day with a winner in the opening event with Victory March.

While Apprentice L De Souza was in great form when he rode four winners from many rides and has ridden 40 winners so far moving into third spot. He started his winning ways in Race 2 with Alien for trainer S. Sivakumar, and rode a treble for his master R Lines in Race 2 abroad Champagne Rose, and then in Race 5 with D’ Great Hawk, and in Race 7 with Metier Star.
