17 August 2025, Kuala Lumpur

Twelve races took place at the Selangor Turf Club with a tricky card for punters to navigate through with a few favourites and a few outsiders sharing the day but there was one winner that stood out on the card and that was Storm To Finish in race 4.

A field of seven runners with only one runner who had racing form to his name – Raikou – as the rest of the field were making their debut this afternoon and as expected, there were a few runners who were green and inexperienced in the run including the well backed Storm To Finish from the CW Choi stable and T See in the saddle. The son of Anders has a huge stride on him and he wanted to use his stride when he took the bit and tried to take Troy See along with him, but See was able to get him to settle back on the bridle and find himself into a good rhythm around the turn. He made his move to the outside of the track and without being asked too many questions, he effortlessly moved into contention on the outside of the long time leader, Mega Crusader and went past him in the final 100m with ease and only a few cracks of the whip. Mega Crusader still ran a gallant effort back in second.

Trainer NM Selvan had a good day at the office with a treble of winners including Written Towin; Golden Sentience and Popeyethesailorman of which the latter was also impressive in his second up run this campaign and beat a quality class 3 field. Making his local debut was Fright from the S Dunderdale stable who was probably the easiest winner of the day as he jumped on speed, went to the lead under CK Khaw and went barrier to box in front to win by over 3 lengths in what must be one of Khaw’s easiest rides of his career. This was the second of a double for the Dunderdale team as Capetian won race 5 in a similar style under Pinheiro and made it a winning debut for the son of US Navy Flag.

Fright

J Tan celebrated a double with Griffin in the first race as well as Ari in the third and the J Ong stable had a late double on the card with Pacific Vampire in race 10 and Pacific Star in race 11. From the jockey ranks, Y Aify opened and closed the meeting with a double aboard Griffin in the first and Strong White from the CC Ooi stable in the last. Troy See also celebrated a double with Storm To Finish as well as Star North from the F Maynard stable who was second up since moving to Malaysia after a lengthy spell when relocating from Singapore. Z Khairil completed the three jockeys with a double on the day as he rode Written Towin and Golden Sentience to victory.

Racing returns to the Selangor Turf Club on Sunday the 24th of August.
