The various departments of the Selangor Turf Club support and interact with the SLTC Apprentice School on many levels. Numerous specific lectures were delivered by departments such as Finance, PR/Marketing, Racing & Regulatory, whilst the Veterinary Department delivered many modules on horse welfare. The CCTV, Building and M&E departments lend much ongoing support in ensuring Apprentice School facilities and equipment are upgraded and always readily available and operative.

Students of the Apprentice School are tasked with several ongoing projects – one such project was the re-supply of the bespoke SLTC designed track-work “Safety Bats” – the vertical foam flexi poles, which replaced the cumbersome and non-horse friendly ‘cones’, previously used to delineate grass track-work lanes and as Trial course markers.

The Club’s Racing Operations Department has been pivotal in Apprentices’ education and support through lectures related to tracks and its maintenance, as well as assisting the students with construction works including their own designed riding exerciser project – “ROCKIT”.

This week, the SLTC Apprentice School students presented Track Manager, Mr Kau Wai Keong with 40 new “Safety Bats” – in the distinctive Yellow & Red colours of the Club.
