The Melbourne Race Club conducted the SELANGOR TURF CLUB Handicap at Caulfield Racecourse on Saturday, 4th April. The $135,000 event for three year olds, was run over 1100 metres.

ANCESTRY led throughout from its inside barrier, for Jockey Ben Thompson and won easily by 2 ¾ lengths.
Starting at $7, it was ANCESTRY’s fourth win, with the last three in a row for Trainer Phillip Stokes.

Jockey Ben Thompson had recently returned to Victorian racing after riding in Singapore last year – Ben rode 27 winners from 406 rides.
Dr Alvin Cham, a member of Selangor Turf Club who currently resides in Melbourne was to represent SELANGOR TURF CLUB for the reciprocal race, but was precluded from attending due to current people movement restrictions within the State.
SELANGOR TURF CLUB enjoys considerable global “twinning” with race clubs such as Kenilworth, South Africa, Perth Racing in Western Australia, Macau Jockey Club and Korea Racing Authority.
SELANGOR TURF CLUB congratulates the connections of ANCESTRY and thank the MRC as well as RVL Ex. Dir of Racing, Greg Carpenter (who is well known to Malaysian racing) for their continued support.
