Racing fans can look forward to an exciting race on Sunday, 16 October 2022, as the Club stage the running of the second leg of the ever popular Selangor Turf Club Triple Crown Series, the Selangor Gold Cup after a lapse of two years.

The Triple Crown Series consists of the three Classic Group 1 races of the Selangor Turf Club. The first leg, the Tunku Gold Cup was held on April 17, 2022. The final leg is the Piala Emas Sultan Selangor is scheduled to run on December 4, 2022.

Appropriately themed “where sprinters meet stayers”, the series is an open race for three years olds and above with rating band 71 and above, run over three varying distances of 1200 metres for the Tunku Gold Cup, 1600 metres for the Selangor Gold Cup and finally the 2000 metres for the Piala Emas Sultan Selangor.  The Selangor Gold Cup offers prize money of RM150,000.

AWESOME STORM captured the first leg of the series, the Nine Dragon Boat Tunku Gold Cup. The horse was owned by Awesome Storm Stable and trained by Simon Dunderdale.

On the same day, the Club would also host the running of Japan Racing Association Trophy, a reciprocal race between Japan Racing Association (JRA) and the Malaysia Turf Clubs, held on a rotational basis at the three Malaysian Turf Clubs. Selangor Turf Club would be hosting the running of the race this year.

Chief Representative of JRA Hong Kong Office, Mr Miyamoto Yuichiro will present the prizes to the winning connections immediately after the running of the race.
