Trainer Shane Ellis who hails from Perth, Australia, started as a track rider to Trainer L Treloar in Singapore in 2008. Later, he joined the stables of L Laxon to become a supervisor and eventually obtained a “B” trainer license and was attached to him until Laxon retired in 2017.
Shane then decided to move to Malaysia, where he obtained his “A” trainer license from Malayan Racing Association (MRA) and set up his base at Selangor Turf Club and trained successfully for several years. In 2020, he decided to take a break and returned to Perth, and after a hiatus away from the Asian racing scene, he decided to make a comeback. He successfully reapplied for a trainer’s licence, which was granted by MRA and he subsequently received approval from Selangor Turf Club for stabling facilities. Currently, he has a small number of horses in training and is building his team.
Selangor Turf Club wishes him all the best.
