In the concluding stages, TAVI WILL DO had to ease when awkwardly placed on heels on the outside of STORM DEITY which shifted out.

A race review was called into this incident, which was followed by an objection being lodged by Trainer J Lim, the Trainer of the fourth placed horse, TAVI WIL DO (O Chavez) against the second placed horse, STORM DEITY (M Akmazani) on the grounds of interference in the concluding stages. After considering the evidence in this matter, the Panel of Stewards overruled the objection and ordered the judge’s result to stand.

The Panel was of the view that there was no prospect for the objection to be upheld and therefore, deemed it to be frivolous. Trainer J Lim was fined RM2000/- under MRA Rule 122(3) for lodging an objection which was deemed by the Panel of Stewards to be frivolous.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey M Akmazani, the rider of STORM DEITY, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding STORM DEITY, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to TAVI WILL DO in the concluding stages.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey M Akmazani’s mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of one (1) race day with effect from 9 March 2026 and to expire on 14 March 2026, both dates inclusive.  In lieu of one (1) Malaysian race day, he was also fined RM1,500/.  He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

GENERAL REPORT(S) – SLTC

INQUIRY INTO A REPORT RELATING TO A POST-RACE URINE SAMPLE CODED “39199” TAKEN FROM THE HORSE “BANKER’S EMPIRE” WHICH FINISHED FIRST (1ST) IN RACE 4 ON SUNDAY, 8 FEBRUARY 2026 AT THE SELANGOR TURF CLUB FEBRUARY MEETING 2026, AND WAS FOUND TO CONTAIN “DEXTRORPHAN”

The Stewards concluded an inquiry into the above matter on Sunday, 8 March 2026, at the Selangor Turf Club, and evidence was taken from Trainer BT Lim, the Trainer of BANKER’S EMPIRE.

Trainer BT Lim pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 134(6)(a) in that he was the trainer and person responsible for racing the horse BANKER’S EMPIRE which finished first (1st) in Race 4 on Sunday, 8 February 2026 at the Selangor Turf Club, and its post-race urine sample was found positive to “Dextrorphan”.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration the type of drug, Trainer BT Lim’s guilty plea, mitigating factors and previous record. Trainer BT Lim was fined RM6,000/- and was advised of his Right of Appeal.

In addition, in terms of MRA Rule 134(11), BANKER’S EMPIRE was disqualified from the race and the results will be amended accordingly.

RACE 9 (R0145) REBOUND STAKES – 1500M (LC A), WEDNESDAY, 18 FEBRUARY 2026, SELANGOR TURF CLUB FEBRUARY MEETING 2026

Jockey Chavez (RUN BUDDY RUN), on Sunday, 8 March 2026, appeared before the Panel and was specifically questioned regarding whether he had an opportunity to take the run in between PACIFIC WINDSOR and THE WILD CHIEF at the 400M and thereafter 250M.

In this regard, he explained that at the 400M, he intended to take the run in between runners. However, upon noticing PACIFIC WINDSOR being angled out, he elected to switch in, at which point, PACIFIC WINDSOR commenced to shift in away from the whip, taking up the racing line that he already committed to.

With regards to the second query at the 250M, Jockey O Chavez explained that he elected to make his run on the outside of THE WILD CHIEF because he was off the opinion that his mount not travelling well enough to make its run between runners, particularly against the risk of being tightened again. He further explained, in his opinion, that at the time of him shifting out, the best position he could obtain was third but his horse had already peaked on its run and was unable to hold even that position and ultimately faded into fourth.

The Panel noted his explanation.
