Muhammad Haikal Hanif bin Mohd Hasin (H Haikal), from the state of Kelantan, brought up with horses at the backyard of his home is now an Apprentice Jockey based at Selangor Turf Club.
At the age of eight, M Haikal has started riding and by the age of 14 he started participating in horse racing by the beach side in Kelantan. Upon meeting his idol, MRA jockey K Aisisuhairi at that time, he realized his dream to become a professional horse racing Jockey. The knowledge and advise gained from his father, who kept horses at their backyard, has motivated Haikal to pursue his passion and nevertheless develop good riding skills.
Upon graduating from secondary school, Haikal spent a year racing ponies in Kelantan before he was introduced by a friend to work at Penang Turf Club with trainer Lim Hoon Seng. After the establishment of HY Cheng stable at Selangor Turf Club, Haikal moved to Kuala Lumpur.
H Haikal who enrolled in the Apprentice School a year ago, has ridden in 51 trials to date and when asked what is his life ambition, he smiled and replied “to be the top class jockey and provide a better life for his family”.
22 years old Haikal, can ride at 50kg and has a few rides this weekend for his employing trainer HY Cheng.

I Fikri is a promising apprentice jockey from Malaysia, currently making waves in the horse racing scene. Hailing from Kelantan, Fikri has been trained under the guidance of trainer Lawson Moy. He began his journey at the Selangor Turf Club Apprentice School, where he diligently applied himself to the curriculum and completed 37 official trial rides.

Fikri’s hard work and dedication have paid off, as he has now graduated to race riding. He had his first race ride at the Selangor Turf Club on New Year’s Day in 2022, which coincided with the opening race day of the Malaysian racing season. Since then, he has continued to make a name for himself in the racing community.

In his career so far, Fikri has achieved notable success. In 2023, he had a total of 249 rides, with 28 wins, 26 second-place finishes, and 36 third-place finishes. His performance has continued to improve, and in 2024, he secured 29 wins out of 215 rides. As of 2025, Fikri has already achieved 3 wins out of 43 rides.

Fikri’s dedication, skill, and passion for horse racing make him a jockey to watch in the coming years. His journey from an apprentice to a successful jockey is a testament to his hard work and determination.
