31 October 2025, Kuala Lumpur

Racing takes place this weekend on Sunday, the 2nd of November, at the Selangor Turf Club, with the feature race being the Sports Toto Supreme Challenge Cup in race 7 as part of a nine-race program. The first race is off at 13:30 local time, and the feature race at 16:25.

The Sports Toto Supreme Challenge Cup will be contested over 1400m with a field of 11 runners, and Antipodean headlines the field in quite a convincing manner. The winner of this race last year is back to defend his title, and off the back of winning the New Zealand Bloodstock Ready To Run Open Championship a few weeks ago, he looks a class above this field and is unbeaten over this distance from six starts. Visiting jockey B McDougall teams up with the S Dunderdale stable, and as the only horse in the field rated higher than 100 (current rating: 112), he looks like one of the better bets for the afternoon. Noah Khan is the clear danger, but 1400m is a slight query. Although he has finished second over this distance in his only start over 1400m, he may have his work cut out for him. Golden Pegasus bounced back to winning ways over 1600m last start but is unplaced over 1400m. However, he completes the first three selections.

Rocky Bhai’s Latest Win in August

The best bet for the day comes in the lucky last in race 9, as Rocky Bhai steps out for the NM Selvan stable with Y Aify in the saddle. He finished third behind Antipodean and Duma in the NZB Ready To Run Open Championship in his last start. In doing so, he beat the likes of Lucky Magic and Trees of Valinor, who would be well fancied if they were in this field. He’s stepping up to 1600m, where he has won and placed in the past, and it shouldn’t be an issue over this trip. The value play for the day could be Salam Sixty-One in race 8, off the bottom weight of 52kgs to shoulder. He was very unlucky not to have finished closer in his last start a week ago, and backing him up certainly suggests he might be ready to run a big race soon from the J Lim stable.

Don’t miss out on another competitive but quality day of racing ahead this weekend — a great way to start the month of November.
