Community Horse Project – RM40,000 Special Incentive
In a bold move to accelerate interest in its ground breaking Community Horse Project, the Selangor Turf Club (SLTC) today announced a special RM40,000 bonus incentive for the buyers of its project horses. This initiative underscores the Club’s commitment to rewarding ownership and enhancing the value proposition for investors in Malaysian racing’s future.
The incentive will be awarded to the registered buyer of any horse from the inaugural Community Horse Project cohort that wins one of four feature races on Sunday, 14 September 2025. A bonus of RM10,000 will be granted for a victory in each of the following prestigious races:
- Hygain Horse City Selangor Gold Cup
- Horse City Trophy
- Tabcorp Trophy
- UK Stable (Thailand) Trophy
This bonus scheme is a direct benefit of the Club’s innovative partnership with Horse City Sdn Bhd, designed to lower the barrier to entry and provide an immediate financial return on investment for new owners.
The Community Horse Project, a cornerstone of SLTC’s strategy to ensure a sustainable future for thoroughbred racing in Malaysia, involves the annual acquisition of quality yearlings and two-year-olds from premier international auctions. The project addresses a critical aging horse population by injecting up to 50 new horses on the first year, and gradually increase to 100 horses on the second year and beyond, into the local racing ecosystem, with all-inclusive costs to investors.
General Manager and Secretary of the Selangor Turf Club, Mr Kwang Eng Seong stated, “This RM10,000 win bonus is our way of putting our money where our mouth is. We are not just talking about supporting new owners; we are creating tangible, immediate rewards for their participation. The Community Horse Project is designed to be a win-win: it secures the future of our sport by replenishing our horse population, and it offers a transparent, accessible, and incentivized pathway to ownership. The Club will be holding a briefing with owners and trainers in due course to announce more about the Community Horse Project”
The incentive complements the project’s already attractive package for buyers, which includes a six-month Racing Enhancement Fund (REF) exemption, complimentary pre-purchase veterinary inspections, and access to a dedicated series of races with over RM2.0 million in prize money, the Community Circuit Races (CCR).
The online bidding platform for the first batch of Community Horses is set to launch in January 2026, with racing expected to commence in August 2026.
