The Selangor Gold Cup Meeting also marks the debut of G. Farhan, who will have his first race ride aboard Banker’s Princes in the Restricted Maiden 1200m, representing his employing trainer B.T. Lim. The Club extends its best wishes to Farhan as he takes this important step forward in his riding career.
Farhan’s journey into racing began early. Growing up in Kelantan, he was riding ponies by the age of eight. After completing secondary school, he immersed himself in stable work and endurance riding—experiences that deepened his passion for horses and shaped his ambition to pursue race riding professionally.
At 22, Farhan was recommended by his cousin, 2023 Champion Apprentice Jockey R. Nuqman, to join Trainer B.T. Lim’s stable, the same mentor who guided Nuqman’s rise. Over the past three years, Farhan has diligently honed his craft under Lim’s guidance while simultaneously training at the Apprentice Jockeys’ School.
According to the school’s head, Farhan has shown “remarkable progress and natural potential,” completing his trials with flying colors. Now 25 and riding comfortably at 50kg, Farhan looks ahead with big dreams. Inspired by his idol, world-class jockey Zac Purton, he hopes to carve out a successful career of his own.
