Jockey Z Khairil (WRITTEN TOWIN) was questioned regarding his positioning in the early stage of the race. In particular, he was questioned as to whether or not he could have been more aggressive in order to secure a more favourable position after a fair jump. In this regard, Jockey Z Khairil explained that after squeezing his mount to hold its position from a fair jump, this gelding did not show the pace he anticipated.
He further explained that he was conscious of the outside horse crossing him due to his mount showing insufficient speed to hold its position which may have impacted the vigour of his riding. Additionally, he stated that when placing WRITTEN TOWIN under early pressure, he had heard his horse cough, however, after finding its rearward position, he was satisfied to continue to ride this horse thereafter. The Panel noted his explanation.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey L De Souza, the rider of IRONCLAD, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding IRONCLAD, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to GOLDEN SENTIENCE at the 250M.
In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey L De Souza’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of one (1) Malaysian race day, to be deferred, with effect from 23 June 2025 and to expire on 28 June 2025, both dates inclusive. In lieu of one (1) Malaysian race day, he was also fined RM1,500/–. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey KC Wong’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of one (1) Malaysian race day with effect from 16 June 2025 and to expire on 22 June 2025, both dates inclusive. In lieu of one (1) Malaysian race day, he was also fined RM1,500/-. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey XC Liang’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days with effect from 16 June 2025 and to expire on 30 June 2025, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey AL Da Silva, the rider of SINGHA BAY, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding SINGHA BAY, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to GURU FIGHT at the 250M.
In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey AL Da Silva’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of one (1) Malaysian race day, to be deferred, with effect from 23 June 2025 and to expire on 28 June 2025, both dates inclusive. In lieu of one (1) Malaysian race day, he was also fined RM1,500/–. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

In this regard, he explained that he has ridden this gelding previously and this gelding typically made its run from the outside in the straight. However, in this race, he was positioned on the rail from the start. Accordingly, entering the straight, the best available run for him was on the inside, which he elected to take. He added that the gelding did not appreciate being positioned inside the runners and unexpectedly, began to hang out under pressure.

The Stewards concluded an inquiry into the running and handling of LIM’S UNIQUE (App I Fikri)
After reviewing the films of the incident, the Stewards decided to take no further action,
RACE 9 (R0383) CLASS 4A – 1020M (Track II +4), SUNDAY, 1 JUNE 2025, SELANGOR TURF CLUB JUNE MEETING 2025
The Stewards, on Tuesday, 10 June 2025 at the Selangor Turf Club, concluded an inquiry into the running and handling of FLYING SUCCESS. Evidence was taken from App A Nazir, the rider of FLYING SUCCESS, in the presence of his Employing Trainer, F Maynard who is also the Trainer of the horse.
After reviewing the films of the incident and considering the evidence tendered, App A Nazir was found guilty of a charge under MRA Rule 44(6) for failing to ride to the end of the race to the satisfaction of the Stewards. The particulars of the charge being that he failed to ride FLYING SUCCESS out to the end of the race in the concluding stages, thereby prejudicing his chances of obtaining the first placing.
In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App A Nazir’s mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of four (4) months with effect from 11 June 2025 and to expire on 10 October 2025, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
RACE 12 (R0351) CLASS 5B – 1020M (Track II), SUNDAY, 18 MAY 2025, SELANGOR TURF CLUB MAY MEETING 2025
The Stewards, on Tuesday, 10 June 2025 at the Selangor Turf Club, concluded an inquiry into the running and handling of BULL FIGHT. Evidence was taken from App T Ammar, the rider of BULL FIGHT, in the presence of his Employing Trainer, S Dunderdale who is also the Trainer of the horse.
After reviewing the films of the incident and considering the evidence tendered, App T Ammar was found guilty of a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards, particularly from the 450M.
In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App T Ammar’s mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) months, to be deferred, with effect from 16 June 2025 and to expire on 15 August 2025, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
RACE 7 (R0346) RESTRICTED MAIDEN – 1200M (SC A), SUNDAY, 18 MAY 2025, SELANGOR TURF CLUB MAY MEETING 2025
Jockey WW Cheah (CLOUT) who lodged an appeal against his suspension of 1 month and fine of RM10,000 for reckless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(i), applied to withdraw his appeal on 9 June 2025. After consideration, his application was accepted and 50 (fifty) percent of his deposit was ordered to be refunded. His suspension will commence on 29 June 2025 and to expire on 28 July 2025, both dates inclusive, to be served consecutively with any other penalty.
RACE 10 (R0384) CLASS 4B – 1020M (Track II +4), SUNDAY, 1 JUNE 2025, SELANGOR TURF CLUB JUNE MEETING 2025
The Stewards, on Tuesday, 10 June 2025 at the Selangor Turf Club, concluded an inquiry into the running and handling of GOLDEN SENTIENCE. Evidence was taken from Jockey WW Cheah, the rider of GOLDEN SENTIENCE.
After reviewing the films of the incident and considering the evidence tendered, Jockey WW Cheah was found guilty of a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards throughout the race.
In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey WW Cheah’s mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of twelve (12) months with effect from 29 July 2025 and to expire on 28 July 2026, both dates inclusive, to be served consecutively with any other penalty. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

The report dated 5 June 2025 (V25/083) from the Chief Analyst of Veterinary Forensic Laboratory stated that 35 coded urine and 37 sets of coded blood samples from the above mentioned race meeting were received on 1 June 2025, for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations. No prohibited substances were detected.
