In the new racing season 2023, Selangor Turf Club would be hosting a record 50 race days. Budgeted total prize money and incentives would be increased in tandem to more than RM15 million representing an overall year-on-year increase of 15%. The Club has also planned to organise an exciting range of sponsored races and racing events to add colour to the Sungei Besi racing scene.

The Club, having weathered pandemic-related disruptions, movement control and experiencing rapid shifts in consumer demand, would be progressing to be more market-centric approach with international outreach. Other than the regular markets in Malaysia and Singapore, Selangor Turf Club races received overwhelming response by racing enthusiasts in Australia in a short span, thus prompting the Club to market Selangor races to more overseas destinations. Till the end of season 2022 the Club’s races have been telecasted to jurisdictions such as India, Ireland, Macau, North America, Türkiye and UK. The additional race days and investment by the Club, hereby reaffirms the Club’s main objective to protect and reward the interest of existing and new owners who procure horses and related resources to participate in races organized by the Club.

“The past two years have been a very difficult period for our horse racing industry. However, working in unison with our sister clubs, we have resumed racing and thanks to all the stake holders who have strived together to make this happen. I believed we have turned the corner and will work on our planned strategy to innovate, stay relevant and competitive”, said Chairman of Selangor Turf Club, Tan Sri Datuk Richard Cham Hak Lim.
