Shifted out shortly after the start. Tightened for galloping room at the 1300M. Rider had her whip dislodged after striking another rider when racing in close proximity at the 150M. *(See Report)

At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey S Hafis, the rider of NOVA PHOENIX, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding NOVA PHOENIX in this race, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to  TIN’S MACHINE, GURNEY DRIVE, BIG LAWYER, OFFICIAL, DOGE TO THE MOON, NOVA PHOENIX, APOLLO ROCK and AUSSIE EAGLE between the 1300M and the 1200M.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey S Hafis’ guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of one (1) Malaysian race day, which upon his request, was deferred under MRA Rule 48(5), and to be served on 13 April 2024. In lieu of one (1) Malaysian race day, he was also fined RM1,500/-.  He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, App Clyde Leck, the rider of DOGE TO THE MOON, in the presence of his Employing Trainer’s representative, Trainer C Leck pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding DOGE TO THE MOON in this race, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to OFFICIAL at approximately the 1000M.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App Clyde Leck’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) race days with effect from 1 April 2024 and to expire on 7 April 2024, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

A race review was called into this incident, which was followed by an objection being lodged by the Jockey SU Lim, the rider of the second placed horse, WHY NOT, against the winner, ROCK N ROLL (S Hafis) on the grounds of interference and intimidation from the 100M. After considering the evidence in this matter, the Board overruled the objection as from a viewing of the patrol films of the race, the Board could not be satisfied that for the above incident, WHY NOT would have finished ahead of ROCK N ROLL, therefore it overruled the objection and allowed the Judge’s result to stand.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, App A Nazir, the rider of GLOBAL ARMY, in the presence of his Employing Trainer, F Maynard, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding GLOBAL ARMY in this race, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to GREATEST ALL TIME at approximately the 600M.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App A Nazir’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of one (1) Malaysian race day, which upon his request, was deferred under MRA Rule 48(5), and to be served on 13 April 2024. In lieu of one (1) Malaysian race day, he was also fined RM1,000/-.  He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey SU Lim’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of one (1) Malaysian race day, which upon his request, was deferred under MRA Rule 48(5), and to be served on 13 April 2024. In lieu of one (1) Malaysian race day, he was also fined RM2,000/-.  He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

GENERAL REPORT(S) – SLTC

RACE 5 (R0148) METRO A – 1600M (LC A), SUNDAY, 11 FEBRUARY 2024, SELANGOR TURF CLUB FEBRUARY MEETING 2024

The Stewards, on Monday, 19 February 2024 at SLTC, conducted a review into the riding of RAGNAR. Evidence was taken from App R Nuqman, the rider of RAGNAR, in the presence of his Employing Trainer, BT Lim.

After reviewing the films of the incident and considering the evidence tendered, the Stewards decided to take no further action.


RACE 9 (R0152) CLASS 4 B – 1100M (SC A), SUNDAY, 11 FEBRUARY 2024, SELANGOR TURF CLUB FEBRUARY MEETING 2024

The Stewards concluded an inquiry into the running and handling of GOLDEN MAN. Evidence was taken from App R Nuqman, the rider of GOLDEN MAN., in the presence of his Employing Trainer, BT Lim and Mr Lai Jek Shen, Assistant Trainer to Trainer HY Cheng, the Trainer of GOLDEN MAN.

After reviewing the films of the incident and considering the evidence tendered, the Stewards decided to take no further action.


AMENDMENT

APPEAL BY JOCKEY MOHD AIZAT BIN ABDUL MALIK (AM AIZAT) AGAINST THE SUSPENSION OF SIX (6) MONTHS AND FINE OF RM20,000/- FOR CONTRAVENTION OF MRA RULE 44(10) IMPOSED BY THE PANEL OF STEWARDS RELATED TO HIS RIDING OF RACEHORSE “JOKER NINE SIX” IN RACE 10 (R1308) ON SUNDAY, 3 DECEMBER 2023 AT THE SELANGOR TURF CLUB DECEMBER MEETING 2023

The Selangor Turf Club Appeal Panel heard the above appeal on Friday, 22 March 2024.

After considering submissions from Jockey AM Aizat and the Chief Stipendiary Steward, the Appeal Panel upheld the appeal in part, against the conviction under MRA Rule 44(10). On the issue of penalty, the Appeal Panel reduced the suspension to a period of three (3) months and the fine to RM10,000. Additionally, after hearing evidence on the issue, it further ordered the suspension to be served with effect from 8 April 2024 to 6 July 2024

The deposit was ordered to be refunded.
