Selangor Turf Club, the premier horse racing centre in Malaysia ended the season last Sunday with a marathon card of 13 races.
Right from the start of the season, there is always an air of excitement, challenges, thrills and spills in horse racing at this course in Sungei Besi.
Last Sunday, as the curtains drew close at Selangor Turf Club, several horses should be noted for the next season which will be even more challenging.

Trainer Tan Soo Beng’s Ateej should develop into a top class material after an impressive fourth win in a row in Race 7. The four-year-old by Equal Stripes with Jockey Oscar Chavez on board was in close attendance with the early leaders till the heads turn for home and clinched the lead at the final 300m from home to beat Lim’s Casino in a convincing manner.
Trainer Richard Lines’s Confound would be even better over a longer trip judging from the win over 1400m in Race 8. The five-year-old by Tavistock with regular rider Chavez astride came with a beautiful run at the final run home to coast home beating Premium Rush. Take note of Premium Rush which finished a commendable second. The four-year-old by Remind with Jockey Aucharuz came home very fast in the run home but failed to catch the winner.
Rum And Raisins is on the upgrade after a very close win in Race 10. The eight-year-old by Manner Hill with Jockey Jackson Low astride threw the challenge in the run home with Marea Negero and won narrowly.


Trainers Richard Lines, Lawson Moy and Tan Soo Beng shared the honours with a treble each as the curtain comes down for the racing season at Selangor Turf Club last Sunday.
Richard has an amazing lead over the rest of the rivals with 85 winners so far and is poised to clinch the title for the eighth year in a row. He took the title in 2011 and so far has never lost the Championship.

Richard saddled his first of three winners in Race 2 with the veteran 12-year-old Teen Angel ridden by App. L De Souza, followed in Race 8 with Confound with O Chavez and wrapped the day in Race 12 with D’ Great Swift ridden by J De Souza.
Lawson Moy who has saddled 33 winners so far this season, started the ball rolling with with War Dragon ridden by Y Aify in Race 4 , followed by Soon Seeker ridden by Veteran Jockey I Saifudin in Race 5 and capped a great day by obtaining bragging rights with Greenstone ridden by Z Khairil bringing up his treble.
Former jockey turn trainer Tan Soo Beng’s also followed suit with a treble with winners coming in  Race 7 with O Chavez riding a cool and culculated  race on AteejRum And Raisins a rising nine year old gelding winning with J Low on board winning Race 10 and then sealed the day in the last event for the 2018 racing season at Selangor Turf Cub with Nova Spirit ridden by  S Ruzaini.

Magic Ranger ridden by C Goon winning the opening event by making every post a winning one, and  in Race 3 Tauros winning by a whisker ridden by I Saifudin brought up a winning double for Trainer Johnny Lim
Trainers with single winners’ were Charles Leck  in Race 9 with Chips ridden by J Low and S. Sivakumar Mogan’s Pride ridden by substitute App. AK Lim replacing indisposed App.L De Souza in Race 11

Panamanian Oscar Chavez, I Saifudin and Jackson Low took the riding honours at Selangor Turf Club with a double last Sunday.
Currently based in Singapore, Jockey I Saifudin showed his uncanny riding skills by winning  Race 3 with Tauros in a blanket finish and came with a well timed run on Soon Seeker to win Race 5.
Jockey Oscar Chavez was successful with a Race to Race double in Race 7 and 8 with Ateej and Confound.
Jockey Jackson Low also rode a Race to Race double by winning Race 9 and 10 with Chips followed by Rum And Raisins.
Jockeys with single winners were Calvin Goon with Magic Ranger in Race 1, Apprentice L De Souza  on Teen Angel in  Race 2, jockey Y Aify  on War Dragon in  Race 4 , Z Kharil on Greenstone in Race 6, Apprentice AK Lim on Mogan’s Pride in Race 11, Jose De Souza on D’Great Swift in Race 12 and with leading Jockey S Ruzaini winning the last event of the day with Nova Spirit.
