YES MAN

The Selangor Turf Club officially kicked off the 2026 racing season last Saturday, blending the thrill of world-class equestrian sport with a vibrant celebration of Malaysia’s tourism appeal. The season opener served as a premier curtain-raiser for Visit Malaysia Year 2026, welcoming local fans and international visitors alike to experience the “Truly Asia” spirit at the track.

In a dedicated show of support for the national tourism industry, all 13 races on the card were named after iconic Malaysian landmarks and cultural symbols. This initiative marks the beginning of a year-long campaign by the Club to promote the country’s diverse states and places of interest to a global audience through its international racing simulcasts.

MEGA ACE

The afternoon’s centerpiece was the prestigious Bunga Raya Vase (Supreme A – 1100m), named after Malaysia’s national flower. The event was won by the talented Yes Man, who delivered a breathtaking performance to win by five lengths, showcasing the high caliber of equine athletes currently competing in Malaysia.

The day featured a series of “Tourism Trophies” that highlighted the beauty of the nation:

The Batu Caves Challenge Stakes: Claimed by the impressive Mega Ace, this race celebrated one of Selangor’s most iconic cultural landmarks.

The Rainforest Wonder Handicap: Won by Storm Titan, who secured his third consecutive victory, the race highlighted Malaysia’s world-renowned biodiversity and eco-tourism.

STORM TITAN

The Malaysia Tourism Stakes: The season’s opening event went to Mega Crusader, setting a celebratory tone for the year ahead.

The Discover Malaysia Stakes: Captured by Singha Bay, a consistent winner now boasting six victories from 15 starts.

The Spirit of Malaysia Stakes: Won by Banker’s Beautiful, marking her second win in just four outings.

The Harmony Malaysia Stakes: A victory for Wesley Wonder, celebrating the nation’s unique multicultural unity.

These results highlight a promising new era for Malaysian racing, driven by a surge in young talent. With winners like Yes Man, Storm Titan, and Mega Ace all aged four and under, the sport is seeing a rejuvenation that mirrors the energy of the Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign.

The Selangor Turf Club remains committed to growing the local horse population and enhancing the race-day experience as a key sporting tourism attraction. By attracting high-quality horses and international interest, the Club continues to position Kuala Lumpur as a must-visit destination for sports enthusiasts.

As the season progresses, the excitement will continue to build toward the July highlight—the RM1 Million Selangor Mile, a “blue-ribbon” event expected to draw significant regional tourism and international sporting attention.
