SELANGOR RACE PREVIEW SUN 7 JUNE
RACE 1 (2-6-3-1)
SOLIDASAROCK (2) is still a maiden but the tag can be broken in what appears to be a winnable contest. The four year old continues to improve with race experience and is ready to strike. BORN TO WIN (6) draws wide but returned to form last start as he attempts to break the three year winning drought. LIM’S BESTBREAKER (3) has not won since March 2024 and is suited by the distance rise while GOLDEN LIGHTNING (1) came close to winning over the 1400m two runs back and is a chance despite going up 6kg.
RACE 2 (6-2-1-5)
EVER RELIABLE (6) seems to thrive over 1800m and was back in form following his impressive 4.75L win here two weeks ago and R Nuqman has ridden the gelding to three wins from seven rides. NAVY SEALS (2) made up many lengths when placed 4th over 1800m and will benefit on the downgrade. HENNU STALL (1) finished runner up to EVER RELIABLE (6) and is bred to stay. However, he does not win too often but is honest and always one to fill a trifecta spot. WISEMAN (5) was slow to begin last start but also possesses a staying pedigree having scored up to 2000m in the past.
RACE 3 (2-10-3-11)
LUCKY EIGHT ONE (2) has burnt the pockets of his followers recently but it may pay to stick with him as he looks ready to take on the 1400m trip. MEGA MAXIMUS (10) is a three year old with potential as he finally delivered a win last start and is capable of winning again on the upgrade, THOUSAND MILE EYE (3) has been freshened since his 1300m win on April 5 while SUPER BOWL (11) is yet to win from numerous attempts in Class 4 but has once again linked up with inform jockey Bernardo Pinheiro.
RACE 4 (5-6-1-10)
BANKER’S EMPIRE (5) won his maiden in February and his first up run on May 24 (3rd) suggests he is capable of winning a Class 4 contest. ARTOIS (6) hasn’t received much luck with barrier draws recently but remains competitive at this level and from the six gate he can figure prominently. SECRET WONDER (1) drops in class and is a winner at his only appearance in Class 4 company while ANIKI (10) is a fast beginner still searching for that elusive Malaysian win.
RACE 5 (4-6-3-1)
BANKER’S HONOR (4) has been in great form with successive wins in March and April and can quickly atone for his nose defeat here a fortnight ago. NAVARRE (6) is also a model of consistency with both local victories recorded by big margins and should measure up to Class 3 company for the first time. GULF EAGLE (3) is proven at this level and his trial win recently suggests he is back on track for a forward showing. BANKER’S KINGDOM (1) won by 7.25L over the distance in Ipoh two starts back looks well placed after the claim while PACIFIC PERY closed off well last start and the mile trip should not pose a problem.
RACE 6 (7-12-1-3)
BANKER’S BABY (7) has only missed a place once in eight local starts and the recent addition of blinkers has worked wonders for the mare who is due to strike back. FRIEND OF HONOR (12) will break his Class 4 duck very soon and once again gets his chance with 53.5kg. CHEVAL PEGASUS (1) made up good ground when narrowly beaten upon his return to Class 4 last start and will take beating from pole position. BUURAQ SIXTY-ONE (3) was heavily supported when winning in the “B” division and Benny Woodworth has a good record aboard the Jason Lim trained runners.
RACE 7 (2-8-1-5)
Very open race with Simon Dunderdale represented by four genuine chances. GALAXY GREY (2) won a lowly maiden race in Ipoh on local debut in March but has been competitive in Class 4 since and may be better served dropping back to the “B” division on this occasion. Stable mates INFINITY SPIRIT (8) and PANTONG (1), aided by the 3kg claim both look chances to fill the trifecta spots. BOSS BABY (5) can be a contender on best form whilw COMMANDER JONES (10) caught the eye when finishing runner up last start.
RACE 8 (8-12-2-3)
MEGA CAPTAIN (8) looks the one to beat on exposed form and can immediately atone for his neck defeat last run. MEGA FORTUNE (12) did not disgrace on debut when placed 3rd (4.25L behind MEGA CAPTAIN) and will strip fitter second up. INFINITY HERCULES (2) franked his good trial form when finishing 2nd in an Open Maiden here on May 23 while SKY KING (3) is coming off five successive third placings and deserves to land the major prize. One to watch from the trials is KING OF THE FINISH (6) from the HY Cheng yard. Looks a nice type in the making and is expected to run well on debut.
RACE 9 (2-6-1-3)
WAIT U KNOW (2) took out a Class 4 contest earlier this year and looks the one to beat, second start back in Class 5. Bernardo Pinheiro successfully combined with SWEY CITY FLYER (6) when the three year old opened his winning account on May 17 and is a chance of going back-to-back, FORTUNE MAGIC (1) has performed well in two appearances at Class 4 level and is a chance to break his maiden tag on the downgrade. WRITTEN TOWIN (3) and BOOMBA (10) are coming off last start wins and are worth following.
