Former Cup winner READY TO ROCK bounced back to winning form to cause a boilover in the Supreme B set-weight event over 1300m at Sungei Besi here today.

The 2018 Coronation Cup winner has not tasted success since his last victory in October 2020 and  has been placed just three times in the ensuing period.

The son of Ready’s Inage was placed just once in nine outings in Singapore but he was totally transformed under trainer Richard Lines.

In 2018, READY TO ROCK rose from Class 4 to reel off five consecutive wins, culminating with his win in the Coronation Cup.

Laercio De Souza, who was placed twice on the gelding as an apprentice back in 2018, was finally able to land a win on READY TO ROCK who will turned 10 next month. His brother Jose was the regular rider of the Australian gelding.

READY TO ROCK raced well off the pace set by EYE GUY and VETRI, with the two joint favourites BERRY BLISS and WATCH THE THRONE tracking them behind.

BERRY BLISS hit the front at the 200m with challengers right on his heels. READY TO ROCK found an opening between runners and went after the leader.

READY TO ROCK hit the from 80m out to win by one and a quarter lengths from BERRY BLISS. SEMANTAN PRINCE flashed home third.

READY TO ROCK, who paid RM239 today, has now won nine times in 45 starts for Lines.

“This horse means so much to me,” said Lines.

“He was my classic winner for the late Dato Seri Koay Teng Soon and now he is raced by his won Nixon.

“Today, the fast early pace and the ‘give’ in the track definitely suited him.”

“I am surprised that he was able to beat this field today,” said De Souza. “He was not able to get going early but he stormed home like a Ferrari.”
