Racing returns to the Selangor Turf Club on Sunday for a twelve-race card, which begins at 12:30 pm local time. Two feature races headline the program: the Baby Pery Cup in race 6 and the Magic Millions Horses in Training Sale Cup in race 9.

The Baby Pery Cup will be run over 1200 m for RM62,000 as a restricted maiden, with a field of twelve looking to open their Malaysian accounts. 2 Mega Titan is the first selection, with three starts to his name so far: one second and two unplaced efforts for the Ananthen yard. His run behind Capetian was full of merit when he was only beaten 2.5 lengths, but his subsequent performance was a little disappointing, although there were excuses. He was well back in the field and had to be steadied at the 800 m mark, which knocked his momentum, but he was able to rally and ran on to finish fifth. Expect further improvement from him if he can overcome barrier 13. The biggest dangers could be 6 Swey City Flyer, who showed big improvement in his last start when racing wide throughout, as well as 10 Mega Skye, who has been trialling well in the buildup to his debut.

The best bet of the day comes in the Magic Millions Horses in Training Sale Cup in race 9, as the speedy Pacific Vampire steps out for the J Ong stable. Known for his quick gate speed and front-running tactics, dropping back to the 1020 m trip certainly seems like a winning move for him, as he has won on five previous attempts over this distance. He is the best weighted by some margin, racing off a rating of 107 compared to the second-highest-rated horse, his stable companion Filial Dragon, who is on 89. That 18-point difference, with only 3 kg separating them, should make it very difficult for anything to challenge Pacific Vampire—especially over his best distance. A runner to keep an eye on, who is capable of running well above his current mark, is 10 Stop The Water from the R Lines stable. He’s unbeaten over track and trip and is returning fresh after a short break. His last run was over the mile trip in the Selangor Mile, where he ran unplaced over a distance that stretched him to the maximum. Back to a sprint should bring significant improvement.

A few other runners to keep an eye on include Secret Wonder from the W Lim stable in race 3, and Pacific Silver from the J Ong stable in race 5, both making their local debuts from Australia.
