The Selangor Turf Club will host the running of the New Zealand Bloodstock Ready To Run Trophy on Saturday, 4 November 2023 sponsored by world renowned auction house New Zealand Bloodstock.

The race is held in recognition of the New Zealand Bloodstock’s strong affiliation with the Selangor Turf Club and the Club’s participation in the Ready to Run Sale scheduled to be held at the Karaka Sales Centre on 22 and 23 November 2023. The sale’s Breeze Up gallops were conducted on 16 & 17 October and the Breeze Up videos are now available online at nzb.co.nz.

The New Zealand Bloodstock Ready to Run Sale is a world renowned producer of two-year-olds, with an excellent track record of Group I winners as well as Derby and Classic stars. The sale has built a reputation for integrity and success making it the preferred auction for global buyers to secure Australasia’s top level juveniles.

Horse owners and prospective buyers are encouraged to attend the Sale as the Selangor Turf Club is providing a special incentive for buyers. A rebate of RM15,000 (NZ$5,400) will be sponsored by the Club to buyers for each horse purchased at the Sale.

In addition to this incentive, as a gesture of goodwill, New Zealand Bloodstock is offering a “Buyer Reward Credit” to overseas buyers who attend and purchase at the Sale. The sum of credit is determined by the region from which the buyer has travelled and the value of the horse purchased. The reward credit extended to Malaysia is between NZ$2,500 to NZ$8,000.

Further to the above incentives, in order to attract more horse owners and trainers to participate in the Sale this year, the Club is committed to stage the running of two special New Zealand Bloodstock Graduate Races in the 2024/2025 racing season offering prize money of RM100,000 for each race. The first race would be open to all New Zealand Bloodstock Graduates and the second race would be open to all 2023 New Zealand Bloodstock Ready to Run graduates.

Chairman of Selangor Turf Club, Tan Sri Richard Cham who led a delegation of buyers from the Club to Karaka last year and amassed a total of 20 horses, is positive that this year, more owners and trainers would travel to New Zealand to attend the Karaka Sale and strengthen the existing horse population at the Club.

“With over 350 lots to be sold, each purchase would certainly offer good value for money. New Zealand Graduates have never failed to score outstanding wins at the Selangor racetrack and recently 2018 graduate Pasir Pinji and 2019 graduate, Good Fight have captured the Selangor Gold Cup and Sports Toto Supreme Challenge Cup respectively” said Tan Sri Richard Cham.
