The Selangor Turf Club ushered in the Year of Dog momentously on the second day of the Lunar New Year. The day started with an auspicious Lion Dance at the Club premises. Visitors and horse racing aficionados were decked in their best Chinese New Year outfits to celebrate the day.

It was a successful outing for trainer Frank Maynard who saddled four winners over the two-day event. Maynard opened the accounts in Race 4 on Saturday with the favourite Bahar ridden by Oscar Chavez with an easy arm chair ride on the four-year-old by Bullbars.

The combination of Maynard-Chavez went to take the main feature event of the day in the inaugural running of the OUG Jade Cup over 1200m on Showboy. To cap a great day, Maynard went on to win in Race 9 on Commando Eclipse. Maynard then waited till Race 9 on Sunday to strike on Mozart Eclipse to top the list.

Trainer SY Lim and Champion Trainer Richard Lines had to share with three winners each while Charles Leck and L Moy saddled two winners. Trainer Lim Boon Thong, Mohd Sukri, Tan Soo Beng, Simon Dunderdale and PS Kumaran saddle a winner each.

It was a great start for the New Year and we’re certain the rest of the year will be amazing for us here at the Selangor Turf Club.
