Kamaruddin’s Dream day with first treble

Banker’s Dream defied a promotion to win the Class 3 – 1100m sprint at Sungai Besi today to make it three wins in seven starts in the country.
The Alamaba Express galloper landed as a maiden but romped to a seven-length win in Open Maiden company in his local debut in February.
The four-year-old failed to show up in his next four outings before bouncing back with an easy win in the Thompson & Redwood Stakes (Class 4A – 1020m) two weeks ago.
Promoted for that 3-1/2-length win, Banker’s Dream continued that rich vein of form to lead most of the way today.
Rizzler was the fiirst to break and led early. But Banker’s Dream, ridden by Joe Kamaruddin, quickly joined him in front and the pair set a brisk pace in front.
They matched strides into the straight until Banker’s Dream began to pull away from the 250m mark.
Banker’s One Seven tried to make a race of it with a late burst but Banker’s Dream was home and dry, winning by half a length.
“He (Banker’s Dream) is a big, strong horse, jumped well and travelled nicely on the bridle,” said Kamaruddin.
“He had the race covered although the other horse (Banker’s One Seven) was coming at him at the finish.
“After his last start win, I was confident he was going to win again today.”
“It was a good back-up win,” said trainer Johnny Lim.
“I think the jockey rode him very well, a masterly ride. All credit to him for the win.”
Earlier in the afternoon, Kamaruddin dealt punters the biggest shock of the season yet when he piloted Banker’s Queen to win the Class 4B – 1020m sprint on the No 2 track,
Unplaced in seven previous runs in the country, the Sun City mare tracked the pacemaker Magic Captain from the start before hitting the front 150m out.
She then held on to beat Iron Samurai by half a length with Release The Spirit also finishing well in third place.
Banker’s Queen paid RM637 for a win, surpassing the RM477 payout by Ice Age in Ipoh on Mar 14.
Kamaruddin notched his first treble when he replaced the injured Bahauddin Sharudin to score on Pacific Padrino in the Class 4A – 1600m handicap.
Pacific Padrino outduelled Anjou Crown to win by a nose on a day when Pacific Stable and trainer Jason Ong received their trophies for winning the 2025 Selangor Champion Owner and Champion Trainer titles.
