STEWARDS’ REPORT–PERAK FEBRUARY MEETING 2023

SUNDAY–12th FEBRUARY 2023

RACE 1 (R149) CLASS 5(A) – 1600m (lc) POLISH HANDICAP 

At the conclusion of an Inquiry today, into the running and handling of COUNTRY LAW, Jockey How Yang, the rider of COUNTRY LAW pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards.

The particulars of the charge are that whilst riding COUNTRY LAW, he failed to ride with sufficient vigour and determination from approximately the 450M-mark till the finish.

In assessing the penalty, the Panel of Stewards took into account Jockey How Yang’s guilty plea, disciplinary records and mitigating factors.  He was suspended from riding in races for a period of six (6) months, effective Monday, 13th February 2023 and to expire on Saturday, 12th August 2023, both dates inclusive.  He was advised of his right of appeal (5.15pm)

RACE 5(R153) CLASS 4(A) – 1300m(lc) REX HANDICAP 

Passing the 1200M-mark, GEORGETOWN (App R Ruwaidy) became crowded and had to check when racing on the inside of SUPER SIXTYONE (App Z Syafifie) which had been carried in by SILENT BOSS (S Ruzaini).  At a subsequent inquiry, Jockey S Ruzaini, the rider of SILENT BOSS pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that he permitted his mount to shift in at approximately the 1200M-mark, resulting in varying degrees of interferences to GEORGETOWN and SUPER SIXTYONE. 

In assessing the penalty, the Panel of Stewards took into consideration Jockey S Ruzaini’s guilty plea, disciplinary records and mitigating factors.   Jockey S Ruzaini was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) race days, effective from Monday, 13th February 2023 and to expire on Sunday, 19th February 2023, both dates inclusive.   He was advised of his right of appeal (4.15pm).

At the conclusion of an Inquiry, App  K Pavinthran, the rider of AFALONHRO in the presence of his acting master, Trainer R Lines, pleaded guilty to a charge of incompetent riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(b)(iii) in that he failed to give his mount sufficient rein on jumping, resulting in it throwing its head up and being slowly away.

In assessing the penalty, the Panel of Stewards took into consideration App K Pavinthran’s guilty plea, disciplinary record and mitigating factors.   He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) months, effective from Monday, 13th February 2023 and to expire on Wednesday, 12th April 2023, both dates inclusive.   He was advised of his right of appeal (3.45pm).
