SELANGOR TURF CLUB MARCH MEETING 2022

SATURDAY, 26 MARCH 2022

RACE 9 (R371)         CLASS 5 (A) – 1200M (A4 SHORT COURSE) 

On inquiry, Jockey J Daniel, the rider of THE SAINT, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) for shifting in at this stage.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey J Daniel’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of three (3) Malaysian race days with effect from 28 March 2022 and to expire on 9 April 2022, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.


RACE 10 (R372)       CLASS 5 (A) – 1200M (A4 SHORT COURSE) 

On inquiry, Jockey S Salee, the rider of TUN O’REILLY, pleaded guilty to a charge of reckless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(i) for shifting in and causing GOLDEN NINETY TWO to clip its heels and dipped, dislodging Jockey HS Gill.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey S Salee’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of one (1) with effect from 28 March 2022 and to expire on 27 April 2022, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.


RACE 4 (R345) CLASS 4 (A) – 1400M (A4 LONG COURSE),

SUNDAY, 20 MARCH 2022, SELANGOR TURF CLUB MARCH MEETING 2022

The Stewards, on 24 March 2022 (Thursday) continued the inquiry into App K Pavinthran riding of SMART INVESTMENT. Evidence was taken from App K Pavinthran, in the presence of his Employing Trainer, Trainer C Leck and Jockey J Shankar who had ridden SMART INVESTMENT at its previous winning start.

After considering the evidence and also reviewing the performances of SMART INVESTMENT, App K Pavinthran pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards. The particulars of the charge being that:

  1. He failed to encourage significantly, SMART INVESTMENT in the middle stages of the race when racing in second last position; and
  2. He failed to demonstrate a reasonable level of vigour when riding out in the straight.

The Stewards took into consideration App K Pavinthran’s guilty plea, riding record, relative inexperience, mitigating factors and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of one (1) month with immediate effect from 24 March 2022 and to expire on 23 April 2022, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.


PERAK MARCH MEETING 2022

DAY 2, SUNDAY – 27TH MARCH 2022

RACE 3 (R376)          CLASS 5 (B) – 1600m (lc)     

An Inquiry was opened today into the running and handling of TRINITY HONOR, ridden by App A Saran and trained by Trainer Evert van Breukelen.   Evidence was taken from App A Saran in the presence of his master, Trainer T Asogan and Trainer Evert van Breukelen.  After reviewing the race videos, App A Saran pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards.

The particulars of the charge were that:

1)  he failed to ride with sufficient vigour and determination on his mount from the start until approximately the 200M-mark.

Thereby, failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards.

In assessing the penalty, the Panel of Stewards took into account his disciplinary records and mitigating factors.   App A Saran was suspended from riding in races for a period of four (4) months effective from Monday, 28th March 2022 and to expire on Wednesday, 27th July 2022, both dates inclusive.  In addition, he was fined a sum of RM10,000/-   He was advised of his right of appeal (3.12pm).
