 At the conclusion of an inquiry, App R Lingarajan, the rider of STAR GENIUS in the presence of his Employing Trainer, Trainer K Coetzee was found guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 44(8) as read with MRA Rule 44(8)(a) for failing to take all reasonable and permissible measures  to ensure that STAR GENIUS was given a full opportunity of obtaining the best possible placing.

The details of the charge are that:

1. After jumping away awkwardly, App R Lingarajan continually takes hold of and restrains his mount in the backstraight, placing it in a position where it could not race to its best advantage.
2. From the 800M to entering the home straight, he failed to make any attempt to improve his position when it was reasonable to do so.

When deciding on the penalty, the Panel of Stewards took into consideration his mitigating factors and riding record.   App R Lingarajan was disqualified for a period of one (1) year with immediate effect today, 27^th November 2021 and to expire on 26^th November 2022, both dates inclusive.   He was advised of his right of appeal (5.10pm).
