2025 Selangor champions receive trophies at award dinner

The Selangor Turf Club hosted the inaugural SLTC Championship Awards 2025 at the Hilton Hotel, Petaling Jaya on 6th June 2026. The event presented the Club with an opportunity to pay fitting tribute to the ultimate victors in the battles of the turf over the past year.
The event saw over 200 guests comprising Horse Owners, Trainers, Jockeys and invited guests gathered to celebrate excellence, achievements and witness the presentation of the Award to the outstanding Champions of 2025. Also present were the Chairman of Malaysian Totalisator Board, Mr Thean Ming Fatt and Chairman of Perak Turf Club, Dato’ John Lim.
The following individuals received the 2025 Selangor Awards in the respective categories :-

Chairman of Selangor Turf Club, Tan Sri Datuk Sir Richard Cham Hak Lim, emphasized that 2025 has proven to be a challenging year for the racing industry as a whole but the Selangor Turf Club rose to the challenge by taking decisive measures to overcome the challenges and bring the racing industry to greater heights.
The highlighted that initiatives such as increasing the stakes money for various classes of horses, increasing the number of races, increasing the horse population, introduction of the Community Horse Project, presenting better sports entertainment to the fans, commingling with other clubs, upgrading of facilities and many more other measures helped bring the racing industry in Malaysia to greater heights, growing from strength to strength.
“Our event tonight is a positive step towards this end. It provides the platform to foster stronger relations, exchange of ideas, share experiences and at the same time recognizing the excellence in the sports for the greater good of the industry”, said Tan Sri Richard Cham.
Tan Sri took the opportunity to thank the Horse Owners who are considered as the pillars of racing. He thanked all horse owners for their passion and for their strong support of racing over the years. He further stated that without their unwavering support all these years, racing will not be what it is today.
He stressed that, moving forward, the racing fraternity must work together to ensure that racing continues to remain attractive to racing enthusiasts and remain relevant to the new generation of customers.
“I feel deeply honoured to receive this award in my first year in the country. It gives me great motivation going forward,” said Jason Ong
Meanwhile Jerlyn Seow was happy to become the first female jockey to win the Apprentice title three years in a row. Prior to 2025, she bagged the Apprentice title following her historic wins in Singapore in 2023 and 2024.
Champion Jockey Andre Liuz da Silva, currently in South Korea, was represented by trainer K Ananthen in receiving the Award.
