At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey L De Souza, the rider of NEVER ASK MORE, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding NEVER ASK MORE, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to GREAT COMMAND and SMART GAMBIT at the 1000M.
In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey L De Souza’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days with effect from 5 May 2025 and to expire on 11 May 2025, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey R Shafiq, the rider of ENGINE START, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding ENGINE START, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to OCEAN JUPITER at the 1400M.
In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey R Shafiq’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of one (1) Malaysian race day with effect from 5 May 2025 and to expire on 11 May 2025, both dates inclusive. In lieu of one (1) Malaysian race day, he was also fined RM1,500/-. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

GENERAL REPORT(S) – SLTC
RACE 10 (R0272) CLASS 4B – 1020M (Track II), SUNDAY, 20 APRIL 2025, SELANGOR TURF CLUB APRIL MEETING 2025
The Stewards, on Saturday, 3 May 2025 at the SLTC, concluded an inquiry into the running and handling of FROM THE NAVY and took evidence from App Clyde Leck, the rider of FROM THE NAVY, in the presence of his Employing Trainer, C Leck.
After reviewing the films of the incident and considering the evidence tendered, the Stewards decided to take no further action, however, reminded him to ride all his horses in such a manner so as to leave no room for query.
RACE 7 (R0291) CLASS 4A – 1150M (Track II +4), SUNDAY, 20 APRIL 2025, SELANGOR TURF CLUB APRIL MEETING 2025
The Stewards, on Saturday, 3 May 2025 at the SLTC, concluded an inquiry into the tactics adopted on BOOMBA. Evidence was taken from Jockey R Nuqman and Trainer R Lim, the rider and trainer of BOOMBA respectively.
Trainer R Lim was advised to report to the Stewards any circumstances which may affect the performance of his horses in races.
RACE 9 (R0293) CLASS 2 – 1400M (LC A4), SUNDAY, 20 APRIL 2025, SELANGOR TURF CLUB APRIL MEETING 2025
The Stewards, on Saturday, 3 May 2025 at the SLTC, concluded an inquiry into the running and handling of BIG UNION and took evidence from Jockey HS Gill, the rider of BIG UNION.
After reviewing the films of the incident and considering the evidence tendered, the Stewards decided to take no further action,

AMENDMENT

The 1000M/Vet imposed on FLYING SUCCESS was rescinded, however, the gelding will be required to undergo a full veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
REPORT OF ANALYSIS ON CLEARING SAMPLE
A Clearing Sample taken from GREAT COMMAND, which was received on 5 April 2025 by the USAINS BIOMICS Laboratory (report dated 17 April 2025), was analyzed and reported to be negative to Prohibited Substances and as such, the Stewards cleared GREAT COMMAND to resume racing under the provisions of MRA Rule 134(12).

SELANGOR TURF CLUB APRIL MEETING 2025
The report dated 2 May 2025 (V25/065) from the Chief Analyst of Veterinary Forensic Laboratory stated that 32 coded urine and 34 sets of coded blood samples from the above mentioned race meeting were received on 27 April 2025, for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations. No prohibited substances were detected.
