(AB Riduan) Raced erratically in the early stages and continued to race in this manner and had to be restrained when laying out onto heels near the 400M. Had to be restrained to avoid heels near the 250M.

(KP Lim) Slow into stride. Had to be restrained outwards to avoid heels at the 400M.
9 WHAT A BOSS
(App S Shazmin) Squeezed on jumping. Vet inspection: Bled – Bleeder’s test (Barred 3 months)

On inquiry, App A Najib (OTTAWA), in the presence of his Employing Trainer, F Maynard pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that he continued to drift out causing MR GUN GUN to be restrained at about the 250M.
In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App A Najib’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days with effect from 30 September 2023 and to expire on 8 October 2023, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

RACE 2 (R1038) CLASS 5 A – 1275M (Track II)
1 ELUSIVE EMPEROR
(App T Ammar) Held tight between the 200M and the 100M when racing on the rail.
2 MY MONEY
(AK Lim) Held tight at the 700M and then raced wide at the turn into the straight.
4 RUNNING SPIRIT
(KP Lim) Inclined to hang inwards throughout running.
5 SHENG PROISIR
(M Ewe) Had to be restrained when advancing on the inside of runner near the 700M when that horse shifted marginally.
9 PENANG STAR
(WW Cheah) Raced wide in the middle stages.

RACE 3 (R1039) CLASS 4 A – 1275M (Track II)
1 ANKARA
(KP Lim) Veered outwards at the start and then raced greenly.
5 CHAMPAGNE FINALE
(App S Shazmin) Threw its head on jumping and was bumped at the start, then raced fiercely in the early stages, threw its head between the 1100M and the 700M.
7 SAHM
(M Ewe) Bumped heavily at the start.
8 MOONGATE
(WW Cheah) Fly-jumped and then raced fiercely. After jumping the crossing near the 1050M, raced wide until straightening.

RACE 4 (R1040) CLASS 5 A – 1175M (Track II)
3 SMOOTH OPERATOR
(App AB Riduan) Threw its head badly on jumping and lost considerable ground and was subsequently ridden rearward. Had to be steadied when attempting a run near the 250M. In light of the start, the gelding will be required to pass 1 Starting Stall test before being declared to race again.
4 ROYAL FLUSH
(M Ewe) Rolled in near the 250M, crowding runner. An inquiry was opened into the running and handling of the mare. *(See Report)
7 LEGACY FIGHTER
(S Ruzaini) Eased down in the straight. Vet inspection: No significant finding. In light of its performance, the gelding will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again.
8 NATUREISSPEAKING
(KC Tham) Raced wide in the early stages. Saddle slipped sideways near the 700M, placing the rider at a disadvantage.
The Stewards inquired into Jockey M Ewe’s riding of ROYAL FLUSH in the straight. Evidence was taken from Jockey M Ewe and Trainer HY Cheng.
After considering the evidence and also reviewing the performance of ROYAL FLUSH, the Stewards charged Jockey M Ewe under MRA Rule 44(8) for failing to take all reasonable and permissible measures throughout the race to ensure that ROYAL FLUSH was given full opportunity of winning or of obtaining the best possible placing in that he had failed to ride the mare out in the straight from the 200M mark.
The inquiry was adjourned to a date to be fixed in order to allow Jockey M Ewe to provide further evidence and witnesses.
The Stewards, on Friday, 29 September 2023 at the Selangor Turf Club, concluded an inquiry into Jockey M Ewe’s riding of ROYAL FLUSH in the above race. Further evidence was taken from Jockey M Ewe, who did not present any further witnesses.
After considering the evidence and also reviewing the performance of ROYAL FLUSH, the Stewards found Jockey M Ewe guilty under MRA Rule 44(8) for failing to take all reasonable and permissible measures throughout the race to ensure that ROYAL FLUSH was given full opportunity of winning or of obtaining the best possible placing in that he had failed to ride the mare out in the straight from the 200M mark.
The Stewards took into consideration Jockey M Ewe’s riding record, mitigating factors and his submissions on penalty. He was disqualified for a period of one (1) year with immediate effect from 29 September 2023 and to expire on 28 September 2024, both dates inclusive. He was also fined RM50,000/- and advised of his Right of Appeal (3:35pm).
Jockey M Ewe subsequently exercised his Right of Appeal and applied for a Stay of Sentence. The Panel of Stewards considered the application for a stay which was not granted. The appeal hearing will be held at a date to be fixed.
Further, as Trainer HY Cheng was unable to attend the inquiry, he will be called at date to be advised for the continuation of the inquiry related to his evidence as the Trainer of ROYAL FLUSH.

(App I Fikri) Jumped awkwardly, striking the outside gate, thereby losing ground.
