(R Rueven) Impeded for clear galloping room near the 575M.

(HS Gill) Laid in and bumped with runner on several occasions over the final 75M.
3 D’GREAT MAGIC
(MM Firdaus) Veered in when coming off the cutaway near the 550M, inconveniencing runner.
4 JJ STAR
(App S Shazmin) Slow into stride and raced wide in the middle stages. Rider advised to ensure that his whip is used in an effective manner.
5 UNSHADOWED GENERAL
(App Clyde Leck) Stopped quickly in the straight. Vet inspection: Lame off fore – 1000M/vet (3 weeks embargo)

(L De Souza) Had to be steadied to avoid runner when coming off the cutaway. Bumped on several occasions when shifting ground over the final 75M.

4 D’GREAT SWIFT
(M Ewe) Threw its head at the start.
6 THE ICEMAN
(App A Suriya) Commenced to over-race in the early stages and thereby led.
7 GOLDEN CRAFTSMAN
(HS Gill) Faded in the straight.
8 MOMENT OF JUSTICE
(App S Shazmin) Slow into stride and passing the 200M, was held tight. The Stewards opened an inquiry into the apprentice’s ride on the gelding. Vet Inspection: No significant finding. *(See Report)
Trainer EP Tan and App S Shazmin were questioned regarding the riding of MOMENT OF JUSTICE. Trainer EP Tan said that he had instructed the horse to be ridden from mid-to-back position as it was its normal racing pattern. App S Shazmin confirmed those instructions but advised the gelding had shown no response on his riding and niggling, and he had attempted to improve his riding mid-race. Further, he was impeded and unable to secure clear passage in the straight which compounded when a gap had closed at the 200M. He further stated that this was his normal level of vigour albeit that it had been curtailed due to being impeded in the straight. The Stewards advised App S Shazmin that they were dissatisfied with his level of vigour, however, giving the elements of the race, they did not believe they could substantiate a charge in terms of the Rules.

4 UNDER OATH
(KC Tham) Shifted in from the 250M, tightening runner. *(See Report).
6 TIGRESS
(L De Souza) Steadied when crossed near the 250M.
8 MYSTERIOUS CAPTAIN
(HS Gill) When racing fiercely near the 1000M, tended to lay out and had to be restrained from heels.
10 JOCKEY KING
(J Low) Slow into stride. Drifted in near the 250M.
On inquiry, Jockey KC Tham, the rider of UNDER OATH, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding UNDER OATH, he allowed his horse to continue to shift in causing MYSTERIOUS CAPTAIN to be checked from his heels.
In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey KC Tham’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of three (3) Malaysian race days with effect from 3 April 2023 and to expire on 15 April 2023, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
