(S Rosmizan) Trainer questioned regarding apparent improvement.
The connections of BERLINETTA were questioned regarding the poor performance of the gelding. The rider advised that the gelding had no pace and was unsuited by the nature of the track. Further, he believed that BERLINETTA second-up performances had been poor in the past and showed no interest in the race although he had encouraged the gelding significantly. The Trainer’s representative stated that he could offer no reasoning but suggested that the Course B and the State of Track may have contributed to BERLINETTA’s poor performance today. A post-race veterinary examination of BERLINETTA revealed no significant finding. BERLINETTA will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again for having poor performance. The gelding was impounded for analytical and veterinary examination.
When questioned regarding the apparent improved performance of OVERSEER, Trainer S Hamilton stated that the mare had not relished the State of Track at its previous run and its only win had been a the Selangor’s track. She was of the opinion that the mare had a liking for the track.

(J Shankar) Was eased down in the straight. Rider questioned. Returned lame off fore - 1000M/vet.

(App R Nuqman) Threw its head when steadying off heels near the 1000M.

(App S Uzair) Carried out by MOMENT OF JUSTICE near the 1000M.
When questioned regarding the poor performance of AIR BOSS, Jockey J Shankar stated that the gelding had been fractious in the stalls prior to the start, kicking out badly and he felt that it was not striding out properly in its hind leg. A post-race veterinary examination of AIR BOSS revealed that it was lame off fore and as such will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again.

RACE 6 (R121) CLASS 2 – 1400M (LONG COURSE)
2 TARGET
(App N Varmah) Took the turn into the straight extremely wide, shifted to the outside of the track and brushed the outside rail near the 500M. Near the 375M, when racing on the extreme outside of the track, became unbalanced on the outside of READY TO ROCK.
4 ARC TRIUMPH
(App AB Riduan) Raced wide in the early stages and inclined to lay outwards near the 200M and had to be steadied from the heels of MR HANKS
8 TIME ODYSSEY
(App M Lukman) Slow into stride. Breast-plate broke at the turn into the straight. Rider fined RM250/- for failing to report his broken equipment. Bled during running – bleeder’s test (barred 3 months).

(App S Uzair) Blundered at about the 575M. Rider and Trainer questioned regarding racing position. (See report)
7 TOUCH THE CLOUDS
(App M Lukman) Rode 10th winner - entitled to claim 3kgs allowance as from Monday, 24 January 2022.

When questioned as to the reason he rode LIM’S SPHERE in midfield position, App S Uzair stated that he had been instructed to be off the pace, however when steadying, had been covered by several horses and found himself further back than anticipated. Trainer L Moy advised that he had instructed the gelding to be ridden in a midfield position as he considered that it would not be winning from the front of the track and concurred with the rider’s statement.

RACE 8 (R123) CLASS 5 (A) – 1250M (LONG COURSE)

1 CHAR SIEW
(A Zaimuddin) Slow into stride and raced wide throughout.
2 AUSSIE EAGLE
(CK Khaw) Bumped heavily by DARLING near the 250M.

5 DARLING
(App S Sia) Shifted out passing the 250M, causing JACKS SECRET to be steadied, bumping AUSSIE EAGLE and when taken inwards, raced erratically. Rider suspended. (See report)
7 JET TWENTY
(App WW Cheah) Returned lame off fore – 1000M/vet.
8 JACKS SECRET
(App AB Riduan) Steadied at the 250M, when crossed by DARLING.

On inquiry, App S Sia, the rider of DARLING, in the presence of his Employing Trainer, R Lines, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that he shifted out passing the 250M, causing JACKS SECRET to be steadied, bumping heavily with AUSSIE EAGLE near the 150M.
In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App S Sia’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, his unblemished record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of three (3) Malaysian race days with effect from 24 January 2022 and to expire on 2 February 2022, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

RACE 9 (R124) CLASS 5 (B) – 1250M (LONG COURSE)
3 SUPER DRAGON
(J Shankar) Carried outwards from the 75M and checked near the 50M by SMART MASTER.
5 SMART MASTER (SU Lim) Shifted out over the concluding 150M, inconveniencing ASSASSIN and checking SUPER DRAGON. Rider suspended (See report).
7 ASSASSIN
(HK Cheng) Raced wide in the early stages taking the turn into the straight wide and had to steady near the 100M.
11 SO BEAUTIFUL

An objection was lodged by Jockey J Shankar (SUPER DRAGON), placed second, against SMART MASTER (SU Lim) being declared the winner alleging interference over the final 75M, was overruled by the The Panel of Stewards.
On inquiry, Jockey SU Lim, the rider of SMART MASTER, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that he shifted out at the concluding 150M causing ASSASSIN to be inconvenienced and SUPER DRAGON to check near the 50M.
