Trainer Shane Edwards Truson looks formidable to capture this year’s running of the Selangor Gold Cup in Race 6 on Sunday (today). The eight-year-old by Al Maher has been well prepared for the second leg of the ever popular Triple Crown Series over 1600m. Last outing, Truson ran a fair sixth to Hatta at Penang over 1400m last month. Once again, in form Brazilian Jockey Bernando Pinheiro has been given the task and the combination looks set to capture the classic event this time out. Take a note of Skydance Eclipse and Ateej, both are in excellent form and could pose a danger to Truson in this feature event. Trainer Frank Maynard’s last start winner Tom King should once again dominate the Class 3 event over 1200m in Race 4. The five-year-old by Ocean Park showed a clean pair of heels with a pillar to post victory last outing over 1200m last week at this course. Jockey KC Wong has been elected to ride Tom King and is the best bet of the day. Trainer Johnny Lim’s promising Selangor Star holds strong chance for back to back victory in Class 4 (A) over 1600m in Race 8. The three-year-old by Niagara Causeway’s last start with Jockey HS Gill on board came with a determined run at the closing stages of the race to beat Sahaba in a convincing manner. Once again HS Gill has been given the task to ride Selangor Star and will be the choice of racing fans for another resounding victory.
