Trainer Lim Boon Thong’s Shellomada put up a sterling performance to capture the inaugural MyDora Cup over 1800m on Sunday.

With apprentice P Haris on board and taking advantage of the 4 kilo claim, the five-year-old by Mastercraftsman was tucked in a handy spot most the way and came with a powerful burst of speed in the closing stages of the race to win with plenty in hand.

Shellomada may even be suited over a longer trip and should be one to watch beyond 1800m.

Second place Karigara, who is also by the same sire, hit the front momentarily but found the winner a shade better in the run home to finish a good second.

Sangkuriang was not disgraced to finish third. The four-year-old by Anacheeva was in front most the way under Turkish rider Selim Ipek but could not sustain his run in the closing stages of the race. The SB Tan trained gelding would be better suited by a 1600m event.


Horses to Follow :

Richard Lines trained Royal Power broke the ice in fine fashion in Race 3 on Saturday over 1200m.

The three-year-old by Tough Speed, with apprentice L De Souza on board, jumped out very well to be in front and showed plenty of finish in the run home to win.

Looking at the run, Royal Power has the potential to race in a higher class soon.


Captain Jazz returned to the winner’s circle in Race 7 over 1400m.

The five-year-old by Captain Sonador unleashed a powerful run in the last 300m to win under a strong ride from KC Wong.

PS Kumaran trained Condado bears watching judging from the victory in Race 5. The five-year-old by Guillotine was in touch with the early leaders and came with a brilliant run along the rails to win with plenty in hand.
