STEWARDS’ REPORT – PERAK JUNE MEETING 2022

DAY 3, SATURDAY – 18th JUNE 2022

RACE 1 (R728)           CLASS 5(A) – 1600m (lc)       SALTWATER CROCODILE HANDICAP 

Prior to the ‘All Clear’ being given, an objection was lodged by Jockey AM Aizat, the rider of CODIGOS placed 3rd against UNLIMITED STAR (How Yang), placed 2nd on grounds of alleged interference at the 200M-mark.   After considering all the evidence and reviewing the videos, the Panel of Stewards were of the opinion that CODIGOS (AM Aizat) would have finished ahead of UNLIMITED STAR.   As such, the objection was upheld and the results were amended accordingly.

At a subsequent inquiry, Jockey How Yang, the rider of UNLIMITED STAR pleaded guilty to a charge for careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that approaching the 200M-mark, he shifted in, resulting in CODIGOS (AM Aizat) becoming crowded and having to check, losing his rightful position.   

In assessing the penalty, the Panel of Stewards took into account Jockey How Yang’s riding record.  He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) race days, effective from Monday, 19th June 2022 and to expire on Saturday, 9th July 2022, both dates inclusive and was informed of his right of appeal (2.10pm).

RACE 2 (R729)        CLASS 5 (B) – 1600m (lc)     FLYING LIZARD HANDICAP   

Passing the 800M-mark, MAGICAL PARK (SU Lim) shifted inwards, resulting in BALBOA (R Rueven) becoming crowded, clipped its heels and stumbled.   As a result of this, INTROIT (Y Aify) which was following, clipped the heels of BALBOA and stumbled badly.   FIRST PASSTHEPOST (App S Sia) had to take evasive action in this incident.    At a subsequent inquiry, Jockey SU Lim, the rider of MAGICAL PARK pleaded guilty to a charge for careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii).  Jockey SU Lim was suspended from riding in races for two (2) race days, with effect from Monday, 20th June 2022 and to expire on Sunday, 26th June 2022, both dates inclusive.  He was informed of his right of appeal (2.40pm).

PERAK JUNE MEETING 2022 – DAY 2, SUNDAY 12TH JUNE 2020

RACE 2 (R709) CLASS 4 (B)-1200M (lc) BALA SHARK HANDICAP 

At the conclusion of an Inquiry today, Jockey S Rosmizan, the rider of GENERAL NIX pleaded guilty to a charge for contravention of MRA Rule 44(8) punishable under MRA Rule 44(8)(a).

The details of the charge are that:

  • he failed to make any attempt to ride a forward race as instructed;
  • he failed to ride with sufficient vigour and determination in the straight.

In assessing the penalty, the Panel of Stewards took into consideration Jockey S Rosmizan’s riding record and mitigating factors.    Jockey S Rosmizan was disqualified from riding in races for a period of one (1) year effective from today, Saturday, 18th June 2022 and to expire on 17th June 2023, both dates inclusive.   In addition, he was fined a sum of RM30,000/- and was informed of his right of appeal (12.30pm).

 

 


JOCKEY URINE SAMPLES: 21ST MAY 2022, PENANG MAY MEETING 2022

INQUIRY INTO URINE SAMPLE “J6410” HELD AT PRTC ON SATURDAY, 18TH JUNE 2022.

Acting on a letter submitted by Chief Analyst to the Secretary MRA, Malaysia on 16th June 2022, pertaining to sample coded J-6410, the Stipendiary Stewards opened an inquiry/ investigation.  The Chief Analyst Dr. Chan Sue Hay and Jockey KC Tham were both present.    At the inquiry/investigation, it became evident as a result of the letter that sample coded J-6410 was in fact negative to Mitragynine and as such, Jockey KC Tham was informed that he had no charge to answer and that he could resume riding with immediate effect. 

Urine sample coded J-6410 was initially reported for the detection of Mitragynine on 2nd June 2022.  Upon further investigation by the Usains Biomics Laboratory, it was established that there was a flaw in the laboratory’s system, which has now been rectified.  Sample coded J-6410 was re-analysed and report issued dated 16/6/2022 indicating that sample coded J-6410 was in fact negative for Mitragynine.
