RACE 1 (R1578) CLASS 5 (A) – 1200M
TAIL SPIN, a course scratching as it was bruised off fore suspensory ligament will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
BIG BUS (HS Gill) jumped away awkwardly.
The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that MILITARY STAR (SS Vanan) returned exhibiting signs of respiratory distress and as such will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.
Post-race veterinary examinations of BIG BUS and D’GREAT HAWK (App KC Wong) revealed no obvious abnormality. ZAC GALLANT (J Low) returned having cast its near fore plate.
The Stewards questioned Leck Kai Jin, Stable Supervisor of Trainer C Leck, into the improved performance of ARLO (App CK Khaw). He stated that the gelding had trialed well on 26th December 2018 and was suited by the distance of today’s race and he expected ARLO to race well. His explanation was noted and his attention was drawn to the provisions of MRA Rule 117(3) regarding “in-and-out” running.

RACE 2 (R1579) MAIDEN – 1200M
AURORA AUSTRALIS and HUN YEANG SQUARE which were up 27kgs and 19kgs in body weight respectively since their last runs, were checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and were passed fit to start.
GOLDEN CRAFTSMAN (HK Cheng) was restless in the barrier and slow to begin.
GENERAL MARSHALL (HS Gill) which was racing greenly had to be steadied at the 1000M to avoid the heels of MR RIGHT (M Hanif).
MEDIATOR (J Low) raced greenly at the 200M and shifted out.
Jockey HS Gill, the rider of GENERAL MARSHALL and Jockey AM Aizat, the rider of HYDRANT both reported that their mounts could not handle the going.
Post-race veterinary examinations of GENERAL MARSHALL, MAXIM LEGEND (S Salee), LIGHTNING HERO (S Anandan) and HYDRANT (AM Aizat) revealed no obvious abnormality. MAXIM LEGEND which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

RACE 3 (R1580) CLASS 4 (A) – 1300M
HAPPY INSPIRE (HS Gill) shifted out on jumping away, resulting in RAINBOW FISH (App CK Khaw) losing its position.
MAREA NEGRO (S Anandan) had to steady racing to the 900M to avoid the heels of WINDCHASER (App CT Lee).
App CK Khaw, the rider of RAINBOW FISH reported that his mount could not handle the going.
The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that YOU ARE GENIUS (M Yusri)) returned exhibiting signs of respiratory distress and as such will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.
Post-race veterinary examinations of CHIPS (J Low), PORSENCE (App KC Wong), PULAU PINANG (J De Souza) and PURE JUSTICE (F Yap) revealed no obvious abnormality. MAREA NEGRO returned having cast its near fore plate.

RACE 4 (R1581) COSMO A (SW) – 1400M
MACAU JOCKEY CLUB GOODWILL CUP
ONLY APPRENTICES ALLOWANCES PERMITTED
GOD HELPS ME and BACH’S AIR, both course scratchings as they had a sore back and had sustained a superficial cut at the wither respectively, will each be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
RELAU STAR (Z Khairil) was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon behind the barrier and was passed fit to race.
D’GREAT VULTURE (App KC Wong), on arrival at the barrier, had cast its near fore plate and had to be re-shod, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and was passed fit to race.
MR NEVERMIND (CK Tan) jumped away awkwardly and lost considerable ground. The gelding will be required to pass one (1) starting stall test before being declared to race again.
L’APPRENTI SORCIER (S Salee) and DUKE OF NORMANDY (R Rueven) both jumped away awkwardly.
Jockey CK Tan, the rider of MR NEVERMIND, reported that his saddle slipped back during the race and he was placed at a disadvantage and was unable to ride the gelding in his normal manner. The Stewards confirmed that the saddle had slipped back.
Jockey R Rueven, the rider of DUKE OF NORMANDY reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormality. DUKE OF NORMANDY which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.
Post-race veterinary examinations of MR NEVERMIND, RELAU STAR and AWATERE (J Low) revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 5 (R1582) CLASS 4 (A) – 1700M
BACK TO THE TOWERS, a course scratching as it had colic, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
Jockey J De Souza was fined RM500/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) as read with MRA Rule 107(10) for failing to make the carded weight on MYSTICAL STAR. The Stewards permitted Jockey HK Cheng to replace him on MYSTICAL STAR.
MOMENT OF JUSTICE (F Yap) was slow to begin.
DISCRETELY RED (R Rueven) shifted out on jumping away and bumped SONNY BILL (HS Gill). Shortly thereafter, MYSTICAL STAR shifted in, resulting in SONNY BILL having to be steadied and lose its position.
TONGARIRO (J Low) steadied off the heels of D’GREAT EFFORT (App KC Wong) racing to the 1400M.
Jockey F Yap, the rider of MOMENT OF JUSTICE, reported that his mount could not handle the going.
The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that BRING MONEY HOME (App R Ruwaidy) returned broken-winded and as such will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.
A post-race veterinary examination of ASTRO FAME (App S Rosmizan) revealed that the gelding returned with epiglottis entrapment and as such, will be required undergo corrective surgery and thereafter pass a test (1000M/vet examination) before being declared to race again.
Post-race veterinary examinations of MOMENT OF JUSTICE and SONNY BILL revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 6 (R1583) YANG DI PERTUA NEGERI GOLD CUP – 2000M
[3 YEAR OLDS & ABOVE] [SET-WEIGHTS]
RIDERS ALLOWANCES NOT PERMITTED
VOLCANIC GENERAL, a course scratching as it was bruised near fore foot, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
After being placed in the barrier, LITTLEBITOFJOY (App I Amirul) broke through the front gate, was restrained, checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon, passed fit to race and reloaded.
VERBAL LINK (S Salee) dipped on jumping away.
RISING GLORY (App KC Wong) and ORDER OF THE SUN (S Ruzaini) were both slow to begin.
ARIF (R Rueven) raced wide making the first turn.
RISING GLORY laid out slightly racing to the 250M and brushed READY TO ROCK (J De Souza) which became unbalanced for a few strides and was also inconvenienced when D’GREAT TIMING (J Low) shifted in slightly.
Jockey S Ruzaini, the rider of ORDER OF THE SUN, dropped his whip racing to the 400M. He was warned that a repetition could lead to action being taken against him.
Post-race veterinary examinations of ORDER OF THE SUN, RISING GLORY, ARIF and MR SCORSESE (Y Aify) revealed no obvious abnormality.
The Stewards questioned Trainer K Coetzee, the trainer of DAVINCI (HS Gill) into that gelding’s improved performance as compared to its last start at Selangor Turf Club. He explained that DAVINCI had not done well at its last start in Kuala Lumpur and on returning to Perak, its condition improved considerably and he expected good showing today. His explanation was noted.

DANE’S ANATOMY which was down 16kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.
HANDSOME BAB (S Ruzaini) jumped away awkwardly and was slow into stride.
DAYFLIRT (J Mallyon) was slow to begin.
Jockey J Mallyon, the rider of DAYFLIRT, reported that his mount was making respiratory noises and could not handle the going. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that DAYFLIRT returned broken-winded and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.
Jockey HS Gill, the rider of SING DARCI, reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormality.
Post-race veterinary examinations of D’GREAT RISE (J De Souza) and HANDSOME BAB revealed no obvious abnormality. D’GREAT RISE was impounded for further veterinary and analytical examination.

RACE 8 (R1585) CLASS 5 (A) – 1600M
At about the 250M, TOKO (J De Souza) was racing tight on the outside of ZENZERO (S Ruzaini) and as a result, Jockey J De Souza had his whip knocked from his hand accidentally by Jockey S Ruzaini.
App KC Wong, the rider of D’GREAT GLORY, reported that his mount could not handle the going.
Post-race veterinary examinations of HIGHLAND FALCON (App I Amirul), SING ENERGY (HS Gill) and LIKE A JET (J Mallyon) revealed no obvious abnormality. LIKE A JET which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.
