(App T Ammar) Raced wide in the leading division in the middle stages and drifted in passing the 300M, carrying runner inwards, then shifted out, bumping runner near the 250M. Apprentice warned that he must straighten his mount when they shift.
7 ROYALTY’S WISH
(App A Suriya) When impeded near the 275M, had to be taken outwards. Rider was reprimanded for his actions which bordered on celebratory at the finish.

RACE 3 (R309) CLASS 5a – 1700M (A lc)
The Stewards granted permission for Jockey KC Tham to replace App M Lukman as the rider of VALUE OF JUSTICE as the latter was unable to make the carded weight. App M Lukman was warned that a repetition in future, may lead to a penalty being imposed.

3 VALENCIA
(CK Khaw) Slow into stride. Trainer advised that due to the 1300M, he had instructed that the gelding be ridden handy rather than attempting to lead. Rider stated that the gelding had not jumped well but although he wished to be racing handy with cover, he was unable to achieve this and elected to go inside for a rails run when rearward. The Stewards noted this explanation.

(App WW Cheah) Tightened slightly near the 850M and when being restrained, commenced to race fiercely, was taken outwards to avoid runners’ heels. Drifted in near the 100M.

(KC Tham) Became unbalanced when crowded slightly near the 800M.

RACE 7 (R313) CLASS 3 – 1200M (A sc)
Due to regional rescheduling, this race was rescheduled to start at 3:50pm.
Trainer AB Abdullah was fined RM250/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for failing to declare the use of Special Bit on ZANJABEEL within the prescribed time.
1 ZANJABEEL
(App I Fikri) Impeded for a clear run and held tight between the 350M and had to be taken across the heels of runners to obtain a clear passage near the 125M.
5 RESOLUTE
(R Rueven) Slow into stride and subsequently ridden rearward. Rider reported that his horse was not striding out freely. Vet inspection: Lame near fore – 1000M/vet (3 weeks embargo)
7 MALAYSIA CAPTAIN
(AK Lim) After being loaded, MALAYSIA CAPTAIN went berserk in the barrier, became cast and was subsequently withdrawn at 3:54pm. In light of the gelding’s history, MALAYSIA CAPTAIN will be required to pass 2 Starting Stall tests before being declared to race again. Vet inspection: Cut on the left flank – Vet exam (1 week embargo)

(R Rueven) Reshod, necessitating delay. Shifted in approaching the 850M, checking runners. *(See Report)

(HK Cheng) Raced wide from the 800M until straightening when attempting to secure the lead.
On inquiry, Jockey R Rueven, the rider of BIG BAD MAMA, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that he shifted in when insufficiently clear of DOCTOR GINGER causing that horse to be restrained, losing ground. BLACK QUAIL also had to be restrained in this incident.
In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey R Rueven’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days with effect from 20 March 2023 and to expire on 26 March 2023, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

RACE 9 (R315) CLASS 4a – 1600M (A sc)

(App A Nazir) Restrained to avoid the heels of runner at the 500M. Vet inspection: Lame off fore – 1000M/vet (3 weeks embargo)
4 SHOQEET
(AK Lim) Travelled wide throughout
8 THUNDERGOD
(HK Cheng) Restrained and threw its head when carried back by a quickly tiring horse. Rider explained that he was held tight at this stage but was forced to check rather than gallop on the heels of the tiring horse.
